AD 527 - The Age of Justinian 5.0.1

Description
Greetings, Citizens of Rome !

This is a historically accurate mod that changes the start date for the Grand Campaign to AD 527 - with the ascension of Justinian to the imperial purple.

The year is AD 527. Over fifty years have passed since the collapse and fall of the Roman Empire in the West. Meanwhile in the East, a new emperor has ascended to the throne of the Byzantine Roman Empire, his name is Justinian. For all his achievements, he will be known as Justinian the Great. The Emperor Justinian reformed the legal code of the Roman Empire, creating the foundations for modern European law that last to this day. Justinian presided over achievements such as the construction of the Hagia Sophia cathedral in Constantinople, and the expansion of the Byzantine-Roman empire that occurred under his tenure.

Justinian plans his grand strategic policy - known as Renovatio Imperii - Restoration of the Empire. Justinian plans to send his most experienced generals and legions to the West to restore the territorial integrity of the old Roman Empire, now overrun by an array of barbarian kingdoms - the Ostrogoths in Italy, the Vandals in Africa, Visigoths and Suebi in Hispania and the powerful Franks who now rule Gaul. But first, Justinian must contend with the powerful Sassanid Persian Empire in the east. To vie for victory in this struggle, Justinian must vie for the annexation of Armenia into the Roman sphere of influence in the region. After victory is assured and peace along the eastern frontiers is restored, Justinian can looks to send his legions and generals west for the reconquest of the former provinces of the Western Roman Empire.

Will Justinian succeed in his ambitions ?, you will decide.

This is Dark Ages: AD 527 - The Age of Justinian 5.0

Final note: I'm working on various mod projects for Atilla for my 'Dark Ages' series, I have ambitions to cover important dates and periods throughout the Dark Ages via modding the TW Atilla Grand Campaign. The latter projects from AD 705 onwards will import all units from the Age of Charlemagne expansion pack and additional new units into the game.

These projects I plan to create are as followed:

- Dark Ages AD 533 - Renovatio Imperii
- Dark Ages AD 622 - Clash of Empires, Rise and Fall
- Dark Ages AD 705 - Age of Justinian II and the Byzantine-Arab Wars
- Dark Ages AD 768 - The Age of Charlemagne
- Dark Ages AD 867 - The Age of Vikings
- Dark Ages AD 976 - The Age of Basil II

Great mod, but why does the faction leaders never seem to die, and age into the 80's and 90's?

@Lucius Aelius Judaeus, Great mod and great idea! I have been enjoying AOJ but I thought it would be cool if the start date was earlier and then you made this! One quick question, is there a specific load order you would recommend?

Byzantine Roman Empire? You should get rid of the name "Byzantine" then this mod would be more historically accurate. I almost subscribed but I don't feel like playing another revisionist history mod. 1212 was cool but they ride the revisionist history bandwagon. I'd love to see modders start to toss aside the German propaganda. Good luck on your mod wish you much success. :steamhappy:

Hello. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get the Frankish family tree 100% accurate. I tried to balance historical accuracy with elements of enhanced game play and I may not always be 100% accurate. I do apologize.

You did a nice job! I love your work (played also your other Mods for many hours)!
Yesterday I tried playing the Francs. In my opinion the family tree doesn‘t reflect it right:
1. Suavegothe should be daugther of the Burgundians
2. Chlodomer already died in 524
3. The son of Theuderic I., Theudebert I, should be alive. He is born in 500, I think.
4. Ultragotha should be a visigothic daughter.
5. Chlotar I. also must have a wife and son (Charibert I.) in my opinion.

I love your work. Thanks to you!
