Description
Avast, Spacefarers! Chart a Course for Fortune and Glory with the Freebooters Origin!
This mod is an approved rebirth of the abandoned #MODJAM2020 version from the NSC2 crew, especially XVCV (retired).

Note: It’s still in new development, so there can be bugs, please report any you find on Discord[discord.com] or here on the discussion.

Origin Story


Hoist the Jolly Roger and carve your own path in the galaxy! The Freebooters Origin lets you lead a ragtag band of mercenaries and privateers, living a life of plunder and daring exploits. Your people emerged from the shadows of a collapsing empire, seizing ships and supplies amidst the chaos. Now, you sail the cosmic sea as Freebooters, a fierce and independent faction driven by adventure, plunder, and the thrill of the unknown.

Gameplay Features (not everything is fully in now):
  • Unique Fleet Mechanics: Customize your ragtag fleet with stolen ships and experimental technology. Adapt and improvise in battle, turning the tide with unorthodox tactics.
  • Unique Traits: Embrace the Lawless Life, start with a unique set of traits that favor mobility, adaptability, and a touch of ruthlessness.
  • Dynamic Economy: Engage in high-stakes trade, smuggling, and black-market dealings. Your wealth and power hinge on your cunning and negotiation skills. To-Do

  • Unique Mechanics and Events: Unlock special projects, edicts, and decisions that reflect the freebooter lifestyle.
    • Randomized Events: Encounter rival pirate bands, mysterious derelicts, and opportunities for legendary heists. Every playthrough offers a new saga of risk and reward.
  • Galactic Infamy: Your deeds echo across the stars, earning you infamy and the attention of both would-be allies and powerful enemies. Balance your reputation to navigate the treacherous political landscape.
    • Become the Scourge of the Stars: Raid and Pillage neighboring empires, building your empire’s wealth through conquest and opportunism.

I read that the Grand Archive DLC gives Boarding Cables via a event for the Treasure Hunter's Origin. Could those be repurposed? Or at least have the mechanics copied over to the Boarding Pods?

I think the player should receive some kind of debuff to their economy to give incentive to raiding and pillaging mechanics. Maybe a yearly event that triggers once you have a neighbor that decreases the income of Energy and trade? Once you raid the neighbor it goes back to normal?

Oh because I read this in Great Khan Expanded:
Become the new Khan Crisis (if you defeat him - only human player ^^- beta 3.2 + NSC2 freebooter support)
So I thought this was a new combo feature.
I just recently subscribed to this mod, I used to play only great khan few months ago.
I'll try another game with only Great Khan enabled to see if this issue.

@DoubleLight: This should be an issue with The Great Khan Expanded (as this feature is not included in this mod) I'll look for this there.
