Description
Adds Classifier grade AI cores. Which are mentioned in the lore of Rimworld but were not seen in game, until now![rimworldwiki.com]

Main core texture done by the excellent Sir Van.

Highlights:
  • Classifier are used to make automated turrets which now require them to be constructed.

  • Vanilla turrets have had their drops tweaked to be more forgiving and always drop their core alongside more resources given their new elevated cost.

  • I recommend pairing this mod with 1.0 Turrets to give them the extra punch for the more involved pricing.

  • If Biotech is loaded classifier cores are also used as a foundation in the recipes of all subcores. (Works with MBT)
They are made at the machining table and are available once Mircoelectronics is researched:
  • 10 Steel
  • 2 Industrial Components
  • 1 Gold
  • 8 Crafting Skill
  • 8 Intellectual Skill
Comes with neat crafting effects of the core getting programmed.

The Mechanitor and Rich Explorer scenarios also are given 5 classifier cores to get them started.

Outside of making them yourself, outlander bulk goods and combat traders may stock some. While orbital ships of the same type and outlander faction bases should always carry at least one core.

If you're a modder yourself feel free to use this mod to spice up your own recipes, whether for balance or thematics.

An automatic patch will try to add the classifier cores to fitting turrets, it should work in most cases while also skipping over things like manned turrets and various other factors that would not make sense or potentially cause issues.
Feel free to suggests turret mods to patch if they are not done automatically in the comments and I may add support for them!

Would it be possible to add a patch for the combat extended turrets? it seems that the automatic patch doesn't catch them.

@Manul That's one way to look at it, components are so insanely diverse though it's not saying much. I'd personally have split them into mechanical and electronic variants if I were adding components. But even with that AI being separate lines up with all the other cores and is an interesting distinction. I think there's a big enough gap between an electronic micro controller or a variety of other chips, and a fully trained and configured AI system to warrant the distinction.

I argue classifier cores are included in industrial components, when you look at how components are described and how Classifiers are described

That's good to hear

@Flockerkill Not quite, if MBT is loaded, the scanners will use basic subcores and the patches from this mod will specifically not apply. MBT essentially takes priority.

So with both MBT and Classifier Cores loaded, you will use classifier cores to craft basic subcores but no longer require steel for them just 2 additional components. And then you use those basic cores in the scanners to make the more advanaced cores like you normally do in MBT.

so to be clear:
if i use this mod and mechanitor balance tweaks, do i need multiple classifier cores to make the higher subcores?

this is a cool mod
but i also think the fact it took this long for someone to make this is a testament to how little of a shit people really give about tynans book, lol

That's great! I will gladly add this mod to my list then. I really love the idea.
