Description
Remember the good old times when Guided Missiles were actually useful? Well, this mod allows Helicopter Gunships to carry up to 4 of them - or even Nuclear Missiles, if you prefer to lay nuclear waste on the other side of the map. Sounds overpowered? Well, maybe it is. A bit. Probably. But it's also a lot of fun and gives the Gunship more utility.

Unfortunately the game doesn't seem to have a "carry missiles with land units"-AI, so the AI will not be able to make use of the changes. Still fun to use as a player though. :)

Haven't really installed Civ5 since I reset my pc a few months ago, so I can't really help. I'd suggest visiting the Civfanatics-Forums [forums.civfanatics.com], or the Civ 5-Workshop-Forums on Steam. In both of them you should find people who are able and willing to help you. :)

I'm definately trying to learn XML... been reading... studdying different discussions on how tos and what not... so yes, that is an interest of mine!

However... with that said, I have been working on a custom map, (Pacific Theatre) with some limited Scenario edits, but I can not seem to get it to work in my Civ V game for my own beta run... so I'm stuck there... care to help me?

Familiar with World Builder, and how to prepare world maps in Mod Buddy to work in Civ V? I'd love to trouble shoot my problem, and figure out what I'm doing wrong... TBH I don't think its in the Worldbuilder phase, as I stripped all my Scenario features from map, and still couldn't get it to work... so it has to be in the ModBuddy phase, building or creating the map pack the right way, and working it in Civ V... again, if you could help... thanks.

If not... maybe lead me to someone who could?

If I had wanted to make the gunship a range unit, then I'd just have done that. ^^ The idea when I started working on this mod was to add the ability to carry missiles because it sounded cool (and 26 positive and only 2 negative ratings seem to imply that it is ^^) and that's exactly what this mod does.

I agree that a ranged gunship could add to the strategic gameplay (although due to the mobility of the unit it would probably need to "tickle" instead of duing huge damage if it's meant to be balanced) in general and in fact, editing units (or creating new units) is a relative easy task to do, so if you want to get into modding, that might be the theme for your first mod. :)

I think they should have done 2 generations of Hellicopters, personally. I think they had done in Civ IV... idk, maybe III.... 1st Generation was than a gunship only. 2d Gen was a Missile attack helicopter.... but i don't recall if melee or range than.... MAYBE improving on the Helicopters concept, you can actually include 2 new units... a 1950s style 1st Gen gunship, weaker on melee, no range, a 2d Gen stronger melee with Gatling style ammo, and a range of hellfire missiles (mentioned) and also a 2d Gen Gunship with transport... instead of carrying Missile, maybe allow this unit to carry troops... like 3 max only foot troops, no vehicles or heavy equip... and only melee guns style weapon, though weaker.
