North American Style Tracks

Description
North American Style Tracks

This mod uses some scripting to change settings across any track mod you have installed to update to a different, higher quality model (don't worry, plenty of LODs including original tracks LODs). Also includes new catenary style, new switch boxes, and new buffers. This also updates various settings as well and as result, while it also adds a lot, can be quite intrusive.

Includes assets of all models used with configurable settings. Gantry assets are supported as well.

Sorry, but narrow gauge lovers, you won't find what you're looking for here.

Modders: If you find this mod conflicts with your mod, drop a comment and let me know. Its just an if statement away from a fix!

Track types included:
  • Jointed Rail Wooden Tracks with Wooden Catenary Poles (1850 Availability) (Replaces vanilla style)
  • Jointed Rail Wooden Tracks with Steel Catenary Poles (1910 Availability) (EMTS Category)
  • Welded Rail Wooden Tracks with Steel Catenary Poles (1950 Availability) (LMTS Category)
  • Welded Rail Wooden Tracks with Modern Catenary (2000 Availability) (LTS Category)
  • Welded Rail Concrete Tracks with Modern Modern Catenary (2000 Availability) (Replaces vanilla high speed)
  • Jointed Rail Wooden Tracks with No Catenary Poles (1850 Availability)(NM Category)
  • Welded Rail Wooden Tracks with No Catenary Poles (1950 Availability)(NM Category)
  • Welded Rail Concrete Tracks with No Catenary Poles (2000 Availability)(NM Category)

Great compatible mods:

Thanks to lskeetskeet for the absolutely awesome screenshots and Dex for editing the concrete textures.

Planned Mods/Updates
With these new tracks, i should probably update my old track mods.
  • Separate mod to update the tracks for NAB.
  • My own old tracks.
  • PRR Catenary by NS37 compatibility mod
  • Update rails only with my own hayes bumper and new rails, removing the dependency for NS37's mod.

Oh okay, I was asking because most mods that change the ballast texture modify the vanilla ballast
themeatballhero  [author] Nov 2, 2024 @ 4:34pm
not to my knowledge, why?

Is there a version that uses the Vanilla Ballast Texture?

And, can I make "Tunnels and 3rd Rails" expansion for this mod?

Nicely done! But I think the catenary masts are in need of a little fix... maybe? =)
They seem to be a little to low even if I set "Offset Up & Down" .5 they are slightly to low.
May you consider looking into it?

There's a few portals on transportfever.net , so i never really felt it was worth it. As for snowsheds, they're difficult to come up with a plan for because of how the coding for the game is. Mainly, the curving of the tracks. straight would be an easy construction asset, but curves, it would be another situation like art deco walls.
