历史信息介绍Introduction to R&D History：
东风5C型电力传动内燃机车，由四方机车厂根据除国有铁路外的私人铁路运输需要，在1994年开发了一种使用8240ZJC型内燃机的东风5C型机车。而随着私人企业愈来愈多，规模愈来愈大，1998年又在原有车辆的基础上开发出装用12V240ZJC型内燃机的东风5C型机车。

The Dongfeng 5C electric transmission diesel locomotive was developed by Sifang Locomotive Works in 1994 based on the needs of private railway transportation, except for state-owned railways. It used the 8240ZJC internal combustion engine. With the increasing number and scale of private enterprises, the Dongfeng 5C locomotive equipped with the 12V240ZJC internal combustion engine was developed in 1998 on the basis of the original vehicles.
