历史信息介绍Introduction to R&D History：
东风5改进型电力传动内燃机车，由大连机车厂、四方机车厂在1983~1984年基于东风5型内燃机车的基础上，将8240Z型燃机改进为同等性能的8240ZJ型燃机，并在1984年9月制造出第一台搭载该型燃机的内燃机车，这一批东风5改进型的车辆编号为DF5-1000系，也可以称之为东风5一次改进型机车。

The Dongfeng 5 improved electric transmission diesel locomotive was developed by Dalian Locomotive Works and Sifang Locomotive Works in 1983~1984, based on the Dongfeng 5 diesel locomotive. The original 8240Z type diesel engine was improved to an equivalent performance 8240ZJ type diesel engine, and the first diesel locomotive equipped with this type of engine was manufactured in September 1984. This batch of Dongfeng 5 improved locomotives was numbered DF5-1000 series, also known as the first improved Dongfeng 5 locomotive.
