Zookeeper Chen 6.82

This is a pretty simple guide to Chen. Micro skills take practice and so does decision making skills. Most of the time, Chen is played as the 5th position but since the 6.82 update, he can be played as position 4. He works best with a pushing strat.
The aim to micro well for chen is to always keep calm and make sure you remember your key bindings for each creep in your arsenal and use the TAB key to cycle through them.
Usually my unit groups are 1 = chen, 2= chen and creeps, 3= creeps 4= misc creeps like harpy or normal creeps to position them in various position on the map.
DO NOT PLAY CHEN IN PUBLIC GAMES UNLESS YOU ARE CONFIDENT WITH YOUR TEAMATES KNOWNING HOW TO PLAY AROUND THIS HERO AND REMEMBER, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.

Chen, The Holy Knight

He's a straight up jungle support hero. Literally, putting him in any lane would do him no good.
Chen generally does not require any items to jungle, so buying all the wards and courier and even pumping the carries/mid heroes with tangos is viable. All you would need is 1 smoke of deceit. If another support purchases one of the items listen above, you could always go for a ring of protection to builld into a Ring of Basilius later on.
This smoke would enable you to perform early game ganks.
Try to get the biggest creep camp and farm with it until level 2. Preferbly Hellbear smasher or the Big Blue Centaur. If you do not want to have early aggresion, stacking the medium camps and clearing them with the Wildwing's tornado would work too. Farming with the Dark Troll Summoner is also good due to him being able to summon skeletons to increase the amount of damage your army can tank when farming.

Roaming early game

Chen can start roaming at level 2 once he gets his nuke + a creep that can slow or stun. (Centaur or Hellbear)
Dark Troll Summoners are also viable when ganking as their setup with the ensnare is extremely strong. The ensnare stops teleport scrolls and the skeletons are also good for pushing.

You would want to gank as soon as possible to gain the early game advantage, make sure you communicate with your alles and notify them if you want to gank, and don't forget to ask them if a kill is viable when ganking the lane.

The Satyr also has a decent for a nuke (125 Damage with a cast range of 700 and the distance travelled by the spell is 800 so it's pretty far) if the enemy is int or agi because they would have low hp. This works best if the lane you are going to gank has another hero with a reliable stun. Think of the Satyr's ball of death as a 2nd nuke over your Test of Faith.

Always purchase a smoke when ganking as to have the movement speed advantage and to bypass wards.

Best lanes to gank would be the safelane or middle, but remember, communication is key.

Mid-Game

By now, you would want to start pushing with your team. Try to get creeps with auras such as +Attack Speed(Hellbear), +Damage(Alpha Wolf), +Armor(Wildwing). The auras would aid your push A LOT.

Late Game

First of all, Chen does not scale very well into the late game as he is rather 'soft' hero.
Remember to always use creeps with auras as they will still scale well to the late game.
Once you have your Aghanim's Scepter, you should be able to use Holy Persuasion onto the ancients which would aid your pushing strat even more.
Always try to keep your team mates alive and sacrifice yourself if needed.
You generally would not want to be standing in the frontlines of the battle. Position yourself somewhere safe and use your creeps to aid your allies.

Tips and Tricks.

1. Harpy stormcaller has a chainlighting ability which is insanely annoying and powerful at the same time. If your mid player is having problems or you would just want to give your mid player an advantage, get one of it and harras the hell out of the other mid laner.
2. Remember to always send your teammate back to base when he is dying with Test of Faith.
3. Test of Faith's damage is pure and it has a huge nuke in the early game, do not underestimate it.
4.Aghanim's Scepter is literally the only item you want to get on chen, other than a Mek.
5.Blademail does wonders too if you are constantly being aimed. Just make sure to activate it.
6.Ghost scepter will also save you from time to time.
7.Heaven's Halberd would also be good.
8.In the late game, if you really have to rush to a lane to push and no viable aura creeps are around, the Kobold from the Kobold camp will give a movement speed buff, it may not be a lot, but it is significant enough, same goes for the ghost from the ghost camp with the frost attack as it gives a negative buff to attack speed and movement speed. (Movement Speed and Attack Speed Slow: 20%)

10.When you gank, you would usually want your creeps to be in front of you as they will be the initiator and also so your hero won't block them.
