Introduction to R&D History：
The 'DongFeng' 4D AC electric drive diesel locomotive is a combination of the previously developed 'DongFeng' 4D diesel locomotive technology and foreign imported technology by Dalian Locomotive Works in China. In 1999, Dalian Locomotive Works signed a technical cooperation agreement with the German SIEMENS Transportation Group, with Dalian Locomotive Works providing the car body, mechanical components, bogies, '16V240ZJD' diesel engines and other components. SIEMENS provided the AC drive technology, including the traction inverter of 'IGBT' components, '1TB2630' AC asynchronous traction motor, AC auxiliary generator, 'SIBAS 32' microcomputer control system, etc. In 2000, the first locomotive equipped with these technologies was successfully produced, with a total of two produced. The model was originally called 'DF'4DAC when it left the factory, but later renamed 'DF'4DJ ('J' represents AC). The locomotive showed superior performance compared to 'DF'4D in testing, but due to high costs and technical patents, it illustrates a truth: advanced technology cannot be bought by the market.
