Description
READ ALL BELOW BEFORE STARTING. Note: UK in the mid 1960’s, when steam locomotives were rusty and not steaming very well, and diesels were green. You are in charge of a 4-6-0 Stanier Black Five steam locomotive on a foggy winter morning, with a heavy load leaving Manchester, bound for Huddersfield – but you are running out of water due to poor steaming.

During this scenario you will have to: wait for your green, stop again shortly after starting, use the Regulator and Reverser well to climb the incline (with water use very high), stop to assess whether you can carry on or request a banker!

Are you up for this challenge?

Do NOT need: ECML Peterborough Scenario pack or the Metropolitan Line.

Route: Huddersfield Line: Manchester - Leeds
Duration: 27 minutes Difficulty: Medium to Hard
Scenario: Standard

Extra DLC:
European Loco & Asset Pack and the Class 105 (press F2/Cancel if you do not own this).

Feedback is always welcome, so please leave a comment.

Hi chris/ash. Just for the record - Vespa / Lambretta then again Vespa 180 SS.
A friend borrowed the harmonica for a band practice - and said he lost it. Truth or not I made a big mistake and never trusted him again (it did have a bung reed). I have quite a few now, and play them.
At our local blues club, ten years ago, I went to a special harmonica night, getting coached by the top British and a top USA player visiting for it. Quite a late night.

Oh no, not a Vespa. Mine was a Lambretta - only a LI 150 but did have 24 mirrors on it !!!! Oh the memories of rain jabbing into my face like tiny, well not so tiny, needles. But good fun in the dry, not so much on icy roads ......

Hello ash. Great you enjoyed the challenge. Anorak/dufflebag days ha ha. I got into the Yardbirds in 1964, (Roger the Engineer still my favourite album) and then Cream and Hendrix. Bristol was really active with a great Blues club called the Dugout, with resident band The Deep on Fridays. Went there on my Vespa, with parka on of course.
Saw Hendrix & Pink Floyd on the same night in Bristol. Lulu and the Beach Boys at Cardiff.
I was in Southampton in 1970 and missed the Isle of Wight. Saw Jethro Tull about then.
Once in Oz in 1975, I caught up with a few people I had missed: Jeff Beck, Status Quo, Pentangle, Clannad, Fleetwood Mac and Police too. One of my favourite concerts in Bournemouth, included Alan Price, Geno Washington, Georgie Fame and others, who all had this great jam session at the end. Brilliant.

Another enjoyable challenge. Completed at 08:52:31, ran perfectly, well done. Like you and chris@, After my anorak spotting days were over in about 62, I got into seeing live groups at my local venue, The Who, Small Faces, Spencer Davis, Ike & Tina Turner, Otis Redding, Hendrix, and many more. Then in 69 The Stones in Hyde Park, after that I was hooked on Outdoor Festivals. Best 1 was the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival with Hendrix, and Leonard Cohen, Tull, and many more. Last festivals I went to were V98 at Leeds and Ozfest at M Keynes in 98. Anyway enough of rambling on, hope you'll be doing more challenging scenarios like this, and thanks for sharing.

Me too. Sixth form school days, mid 60s, was Malvern Winter Gardens for all the big groups of the day but highlight for me was definitely Cream. At Uni (late 60s) it was The Toby Jug at Tolworth for John Mayall, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack, Family, The Nice etc. and Eel Pie Island. Just bought re-issued vinyl of Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green, Danny Kirwan version) 'Blues Jam in Chicago' where they jam with the likes of Otis Spann, Willie Dixon, Shakey Horton et al - brilliant. Wow, do you still have the harmonica and can you play it ???

'trains, girls, the Blues and real ale'. Sounds like me. Hi chris. I spent many hours at concerts watching: John Mayall, Yardbirds, Cream, Hendrix, Fairport etc...and many hours in shops buying albums: John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson etc. I was lucky enough to go backstage with Jimmy Page and Clapton too. Jack Bruce gave me his harmonica.
Great you enjoyed this scenario chris. Yep I will be doing more.

Aaar the 60s with dirty steam locos and green diesels.... Many (great) memories come flooding back of my formative years, when I fell in love with trains, girls, the Blues and real ale. Thank you so much for the Black Five Not-Silent. Even a rusty Black Five is more than a match for most locos of the time. Finished a bit later but stuck to what I think was the speed limit for an unfitted freight of about 25 to 30 mph. Really enjoyed this collection for Huddersfield. Hope there will be another collection for Huddersfield in the future. Thank you for your efforts on this set. Regards. Chris
