Introduction to R&D History：
The 'DongFeng' 4D electric transmission diesel locomotive, designed for shunting operations, was developed by Dalian Locomotive Works in China, building upon the combustion engine technology of the earlier 'DongFeng' 4D diesel locomotive.In 1999, the first locomotive equipped with a 16V240ZJD diesel engine was successfully produced and entered mass production.Each locomotive costs 5 million yuan, twice the price of locomotives like the 'DongFeng' 7C and 'DongFeng' 5 in the same era.Consequently, the Chinese Ministry of Railways has purchased only a limited number of these locomotives.
