Introduction to R&D History：
The 'DongFeng' 4C mainline freight electric transmission diesel locomotive was improved by Dalian Locomotive Works in China based on the previously developed 'DongFeng' 4B diesel locomotive by Dalian Locomotive Works in China. In 1985, the first locomotive equipped with a 16V240ZJC diesel engine was successfully trial produced and officially put into mass production in 1990. This type of diesel locomotive has upgraded and improved the overall layout and electronic control system of the locomotive, and the locomotive power has also increased compared to the previous type. This type of locomotive was discontinued in 1999 and a total of 845 locomotives with different appearances were produced. Currently, many locomotives of this type are still in service.
