Introduction to R&D History：
The 'DongFeng' 4B electric transmission diesel locomotive was improved by Dalian Locomotive Works in China based on the previously developed 'DongFeng' 4A diesel locomotive. In 1982, the first locomotive equipped with a 16V240ZJB diesel engine was successfully trial produced. This diesel engine was officially used as a symbol to distinguish the 'DongFeng' 4B diesel locomotive and was officially mass-produced in 1984. This type of internal combustion locomotive is the most common type of locomotive on Chinese railways, with a total production of over 4000 units, which still has a huge inventory in China after the reform and opening up and even today; But compared to the previous model 'DongFeng' 4A, the main parameters of the locomotive have not changed much.
