Introduction to R&D History：
The 'DongFeng' 4A electric transmission diesel locomotive was improved by Dalian Locomotive Works in socialist China based on the previously developed 'DongFeng' 4 diesel locomotive test cars numbered 2001 and 2002. It was successfully trial produced in 1974. After more than four years of multiple improvement tests, the 'DongFeng' 4 diesel locomotive was finally finalized and officially put into production in 1974. The early production model was called the 'DongFeng' 4A model, which was later renamed the Dongfeng 4 model. This locomotive is one of the many locomotives born in the last few years of China's socialist era, and it is also one of the most common models on Chinese railways today; After China's reform and opening up, there were as many as a dozen or so modifications and technological improvements based on this locomotive, and this type of locomotive was also known as the 'Watermelon With a Mouth' by Chinese railway enthusiasts due to its body shape and coating.
