Endonymic Faction Names

Description
Quick mod that I have made to include as many endonymic faction names as I knew. If you got more ideas or have suggestions for a change or you encounter a bug, just shoot - If I can verify your suggestion it may be included.

Special characters were considered, however I am unsure about how the game behaves with all of them, so the current release of the mod does not make use of special characters. They may be included in updates.

Examples of changes:
Carthage = Qart Hadasht
Suebia = Sweboz
Daorsi = Urs
... I can write down the entire list, but only if desired.

A different name I had in mind for this mod is also "mildly good name changes" cause it includes some fixes as well. German Rebels before the spring of nations in 1848? Not anymore! They're Germanic Rebels now.

Annotation:
Because I only own the base game + Imperator Augustus + Wrath of Sparta I will only edit those campaigns. Caesar in Gaul or Hannibal at the Gates will not be touched on until I own those campaigns.

Shout out to "Authentic Faction Names" by Augustusng (2015). Their mod, as well as issues I had with it, is what inspired me to do this. It's also the first time I modded Rome 2 Total War, and the structure of how their mod works was looked at during the creation of this mod for it to even work at all.

@Aws
Glad that you're enjoying the mod. As nothing has happened in a while I sorta moved on from it in its current state. Maybe next time I touch on Rome 2 I might add or change stuff.

Thinking about voice acting it could be cool to have that. Back with say Empire TW it was still the case that all of the main playable factions had their own voice acting in native language (Turkish for the Ottomans, German for Prussians and so on). Thinking of game series such as Assassin's Creed and it's inclusion of Kanienkehaka (Iroquois), or it reconstructing Demotic in AC Origins, this also helps in the reconstruction & preservation of languages overall.

This is beyond the scope of this mod, but it's a neat idea that should be pursued.

Fantastic mod. Such a little thing when you explain it to someone but it really gives that extra bit of immersion.

If we're fantasizing about things beyond the scope of mods, replacing all the voice acting with each faction speaking a native or reconstructed language would be amazing.

Question:
I've looked into Paradene in the Imperator Augustus campaign, and from what I was able to find for the last 2h of googling, that faction's fictional. There was a Paradene, but it was in an area beyond the map borders. Meanwhile the area in question depending on the decade within the 1st century BC was divided between Sakastan, Yuezhi (Kushan), Indike Leuke (Parthian Arachosia) or even more stuff because the provinces it occupies range from transoxiana to arachosia - which is a lot of land.

I would tend towards renaming it into Indike Leuke since the faction starts as a Parthian satrap, but it's your call if you find a better solution.

Drangiana almost had a similar problem, but it narrowly still works with the starting date of Imperator Augustus.

Note:
Since that reply took several posts due to character limits, I've opened up a discussion thread for the future. There, character limits are longer so big replies can be sent in 1 go.

Pronounciation vs spelling is a broader conflict with many names, but for the sake of decreasing confusion & increasing consistency I decided on going by what seems to be the accepted spelling I can find online. If you mean just for the Iceni alone, we'd get into big inconsistency issues as well anyhow.

The 4 romes in IA use the model of "Octavian Rome" etc because we can keep it in Latin, but a difference like Octavianites or Octavian Rome is ultimately between if you're naming followers or the state these factions represent. Followers of Octavian were Octavianites, but the Rome that Octavian controlled is Octavian Rome. The faction leader is Octavian himself.

In the case of Ptolemaic Kingdom the government reform is between two forms of monarchy, hence the name remains Ptolemaic Kingdom until that bit changes about the game itself. I thought about renaming stuff like this say into "Ptolemaic Egypt" (not "Ptolemies" which is the name of the dynasty...), which is what I originally did with Antigonid Macedon before renaming it into Antigonid Kingdom, but until these factions can reform out of being a monarchy - where they would stop being "Antigonid" or "Ptolemaic" in the first place anyhow to begin with - I have chosen to go with the "Kingdom" adage.

In the Imperator Augustus campaign the faction of Numidia isn't a province, but represents the Massyli Confederation uniting Numidia into a unified entity. The thing is idk what language the state used while both languages pose an option for a name native to this area essentially.

Rn there is a "Gallia" tag in IA, but only because everything's still WIP. It'll absolutely get renamed into Galnoi (or not) depending on what I find out about that faction in the process of reading about them.

The Numidia case is difficult because they were Berbers but they were a Punic province. Is Roman Gaul Gallia or Galnoi or whatever their endonym was? An arbitrary line between what faction must have its native name and what faction must have the name its highest authority calls it might be, whether you can play as that faction. So like, a playable Gaul is Galnoi but the unplayable Roman province Gaul is Gallia.

Also: you have renamed Egypt to Ptolemaic Kingdom but it can switch its government model so it will not be a kingdom anymore. Ptolemies would be a more fitting name in the context on the game. Also consider spelling names like Iceni as Ikeni or something, to better reflect the correct pronunciation. I also think that the actual followers of Octavian would not refer to themselves as Rome of Octavian but rather Octavianites or something, akin to the Pompeians of the Caesarean Civil War.

Question:
With the most recent update, for the Imperator Augustus campaign, I have localized Numidia into "Numdiya" which would be the Tamazight name. However, the Neopunic name would be
something like "Mashilyyam" for the Massyli Confederation that unified Numidia. Since I am not aware of which language would've been official, and both existed in this area & at this time being spoken by what this faction ostensibly represents, I want to hear opinions.

@Spaceracer

Thanks, I've implemented the suggestion among other stuff in the new update now.
