Halo 4 Genesong Cut

Description
Halo 4 Genesong Cut is a mod that aims to improve the original campaign using exclusively what is shipped with the game without relying on assets from the previous games, as a sort of director's cut. If you were looking for a classic or Bungie styled campaign, sadly this mod is not for you.

REQUIREMENTS:

The mod has been made using only the tags shipped with the tools. You don't need to download additional files, but be sure to disable campaign customizations before playing the mod, or some assets will become invisible

CHANGES AND FEATURES:

Global:
  • Increased texture resolution and improved shaders where possible
  • Added a proper transition from the old to the new Mjolnir armor
  • Simplified and modernized HUD
  • Sounds have been swapped and mixed to create a more pleasant experience
  • Reimplemented cut lines and removed some confusing ones

Weapons:
  • DMR has been entirely removed. On the other hand, two new weapons have been added: the Plasma Launcher and the Bishop Beam
  • Promethean weapons have been overhauled to be in line with Halo 5, and they now use the Halo Infinite ammo system
  • Increased reserve ammo and reduced battery consumption for certain weapons
  • Increased grenade explosion radius

AIs:
  • Characters are in general more responsive and act like in Combat Evolved
  • Covenant now have more distinct ranks with better armor and fixed anatomy
  • Prometheans have been completely revamped to fix their annoying behavior while still being interesting to fight
  • Promethean Soldiers and Major Watchers have been implemented

Vehicles:
  • The cut Revenant has been restored
  • All vehicles now have health bars
  • Mantis now has a Hannibal Gauss turret instead of a standard Machine gun

And many, many more...

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Due to how Halo 4 handles its sounds, some audio files can become suddenly lower
  • The modified Didact model broke the motion capture. That's because the current tools don't support face maps. I will fix this once the tools will be updated
  • Forerunner turrets in the Pelican section in Shutdown can occasionally freeze
  • Since the Elite animation tags make the tools crash, I couldn't give them proper animations for the Revenant, and I've been forced to recycle existing seats. Because of that, their animations don't match the actual model. This applies to Spartans and marines as well

This mod is commendable and adds numerous much-needed changes to Halo 4. I haven't finished a full playthrough yet, but my chief complaint is the relative lack of Promethean Soldiers. An enemy type akin to them was desperately needed to make Halo 4's gameplay loop less boring. When I first booted up the game, I chose to play Infinity since I haven't played that mission in base Halo 4 in a while. The Promethean Soldiers here were well-used and I was excited to see more of them. Now having played Shutdown, Reclaimer, and part of Forerunner, I'm sad to see they appear infrequently. I hope you add more of them into pre-existing encounters and create a few unique encounters with them as well.

mod is very cool but i got to the reclaimer mission and the target locator is broken lmao so basically the level is soft locked i don't know if its because the new updates but hopefully this gets fixed (2/15/2025)

I'm new to all this, but I just made a Reshade that mimics the missing lens flare effects from the mod. I tried to restore it through mod tools, but for now this have to do. I'm enjoying the mod so far. Loving the additions like health bars for chief and the vehicles. So far the only thing that needs fixing is no first person model for the Storm Rifle

Downsides are the broken Didact face model, he talks like he's in CE - I'd suggest just not changing his model if it causes the face break, the original is fine especially given how little you see him. And while they work fine the Forerunner reworked weapons have some jank to them. The reload animation can just snap 10% of the time, the Suppressor's RoF immediately drops to zero when you let go so you can't skim rapid shots like in H5G, and there's a little bit of clunkiness around trying to use them too rapidly.

A 4/5 Stars mod, definitely feels like a solid replacement for the H4 campaign for me so far - with some polish this could be the definitive Halo 4 experience
