Description
The Tourist was the unofficial nickname of a semi-fast service that operated on the Isle of Wight between Ventnor and Freshwater. In the Isle of Wight Steam Railway’s Blue Timetable this is the 11:30 from Havenstreet, and today you shall be driving this run with resident A1X W8 Freshwater as motive power. You will first work from Havenstreet to Smallbrook Junction before running round, then run nonstop to Wootton. You will then run round again, before terminating at Havenstreet. Duration: about 60 minutes.

@chris Not quite sure what happened with the timings there-I didn't have this issue when testing. Like many Southern machines the Terriers frequently have to be thrashed on steep gradients-apparently the noise they made on the climb to Wroxall was quite the thing to witness! Of course, what the sim really needs is a decent O2, and Steam Sounds Supreme are soon to release a heavily revamped IoWSR with platforms able to take longer trains.

Enjoyable run with the Terrier. First timing to Smallbrook Junction very tight but just achievable - first time in a steam sim had to push regulator to 100%. On return the timetable said departure at 11.55 but red line only allowed it at 11.58, but still left enough time to get to Wootton and run round with minutes to spare. Here timetable said departure at 11.21 but red line only allowed at 11.25 so 3 minutes late at Havenstreet but still received the green tick so successful completion. The stopping points for the loco are sensitive so recommend saving frequently. The gradients on the line make for an interesting drive for an essentially long siding. Enjoyed this one as well thanks HS. Kind Regards. Chris
