Introduction to R&D History：
In October 1958, Sifang Locomotive Factory began developing the 'Satellite' type hydraulic transmission diesel locomotive based on the trial production of the 'Dongfeng' type diesel locomotive. After a year of arduous efforts, it was successfully trial produced in September 1959. It was the first hydraulic transmission diesel locomotive independently designed and manufactured in socialist China, and also symbolized one of the iconic representative products of China's development from a backward agricultural country to a country where most basic industries have been built in just ten years after entering socialism; And it is precisely this era of almost daily changes that gives this locomotive a beautiful and advanced name - 'Satellite', codenamed NY1; Later, this locomotive also achieved a good result of reaching a speed of 143KM/H during testing. After continuous improvement and upgrading, it was finalized as the 'DongFangHong' 1 locomotive, which was also the success of this locomotive and officially opened a new stage of the design and development of hydraulic transmission internal combustion locomotives in socialist China.
