A completely remade version of the original MorrowRim mod, made to a much higher standard, and with significantly more experience under my belt. There is a wealth of new content added, and several features from some of my other MorrowRim mods have been incorporated. The mod itself is entirely focused on the ashland biomes, with all content included being tied to them in some way.

For those with no knowledge of the original mod, this adds several biomes based on the region of Vvardenfell from The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, including animals, plants, weather, and assorted extras directly from The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

Volcanos are a new type of world object that generate on impassable mountain tiles during world generation. Volcanos form the centre of ashland regions, and are the source of ash storms, as well as other volcanic conditions.

Each volcano is randomly assigned a category during world generation, which affects the maximum radius of any volcanic conditions it causes. This category can change over time, meaning your once safe settlement may not be safe forever. There are four types of volcano, each with their own associated biomes, and conditions.

Ash storms are the most common condition caused by volcanos. Pawns outside during an ash storm will receive ash buildup, which can be mitigated by increasing the pawns ash resistance stat. This can be done by wearing protective headgear, drinking parasol moss tea, ash filter implants, or ash resistance genes.

Unroofed plants will take damage, so you may need to rely on either greenhouses, or ashland native plants.
Some buildings such as wind turbines will also take damage during ash storms.

The fertile terrain of these biomes, has allowed for the formation of rather strange ecosystems. Large insects, odd-looking reptiles, and of course enormous mushroom trees are all common sights in the ashlands. Of course some ashland biomes are far more hospitable than others.

These biomes are home to many strange and wonderful animals for you to tame. However the ashlands are a harsh mistress, and the animals that live here have had to adapt to the conditions. Predators are a common sight, and although some would rather dig around in the ash, they're still willing to hunt for flesh. Of course some of the herbivores are not entirely peaceful themselves.

While regular plants may theoretically flourish in the nutrient rich ground found in the ashlands, they won't fare so well against ash storms. Because of this you'll need to learn how to grow ashland-native plants, of which there are quite a few.

Ashland biomes are not as heavily impacted by pollution, thanks to the fertile volcanic soil. This has allowed native fauna and flora to adapt to pollution, and in some cases even flourish. Polluted soil in these biomes will have its fertility reduced by 50%, and as such plant density is not as heavily reduced.

There are also several ashland specific tile mutators and landmarks added if Odyssey is enabled, as well as new fish for every ashland biome.
Tile mutators range from increased fetcherfly hives, to volcanic ebony deposits, and ash plant groves.

Q: CE?
A: I don't patch for CE.

Q: Can I add this mid-save?
A: You probably shouldn't.

Q: Can I remove this mid-save?
A: You really shouldn't.

Interesting, wonder what causes it? But since "it just works" for me now with that tiny patch I'll just leave it be. If it's not "global" then it shouldn't affect others :) The mod is very fun, by the way, got to play a little at last ^^

@Reverie, I don't appear to be able to replicate either issue with a minimal mod list.

There's also an odd "incompatibility" between Ashlands + Geographical Landforms (mild, the 4 AshDesposit landforms don't have labels -> I fixed it by patching adding a <label> in each in the small .xml file) + Worldbuilder (larger -> any saved worlds will not want to load because of those 4 landforms, because the GL_ versions of them will not be seen by the game. I patched that by adding GL_ prefix to the defs in that same small file. Loaded fine afterwards).

Maybe it's because of a big list only - but I figured I'd let you know anyway. It works perfectly for me with my small patch. In case anyone had similar issues, this is the patchling: https://pastebin.com/VwEtmBha

Disclaimer: I'm a noob. It's ultra simple, but I can only vouch for it so far as "it works in my game and nothing broke so far" :P

I whipped out a quick patch to enable the event since you said the groundwork was already there. Look at how deliciously nasty (I did trigger the event like 30 times but shh): https://i.imgur.com/YRZkEUX.png

@Reverie, it should affect existing maps. And the lava does set things on fire.
Reverie Nov 27 @ 12:37pm
Oh, and would it also cause the lava to set things around it on fire like the Odyssey one? That's also really fun!
Reverie Nov 27 @ 12:37pm
Cool, it's a badass feature but it will look WAY more impressive on the Volcanic Ashlands vs the chill vanilla temperate forest wannabe-scary biome :) Will that patch affect existing maps? Or would it need a new map generated?
SirMashedPotato  [author] Nov 27 @ 12:01pm
@Reverie, yea I use the Odyssey lava if that's enabled. It currently doesn't because I didn't realise that I needed to patch it, but it will when I next update this mod.

I want to settle in the Volcanic Ashlands, it looks like a wonderful challenge. I see the lava looks similar to the Odyssey lava - does it also behave the same way (an event allowing it to spill out)? Would be mad cool, but I don't see it mentioned on the page here :<

@Jester, I'm sure they would appreciate the greenhouse, but they will survive ash storms.
