Winchester (Shaun of the Dead) [Port from Zombie Master]

Description
Short map inspired by Shaun of The Dead [www.imdb.com] movie.

Original map for Zombie Master - zm_Winchester_prefinal

This is my first porting map project.

Decided to port this map, because i like movie Shaun of the Dead, back in time liked to play Zombie Master a lot and now playing NMRiH a lot. Also i wanted to try my skills in Hammer editor and as i see in workshop there is a lot of ported zm_ and zps_ maps, so i think it’s a nice idea to upload another good map.

Notable changes
  • Added new music in the finale that played in the movie.
  • Made a feature that motivates players to stay inside the tavern (activates after jukebox starts playing) - If you will be outside tavern while music starts playing, then you will trigger massive runner spawns.
  • Other minor optimizations and fixes

I will be glad for any feedback and criticism on porting, also if you find any bugs, please let me know in the comments, maybe I will try to fix them in the future updates.

For a first port this is great. Obviously suffers from a lot of issues the original ZM Map had in being rather simple, but its a fun playthrough.

Hope you plan to do more :D

Nice work, glad to see new ports that are actually worth playing, i would advise to place more obstacles / cars to make it more lively.

Not too bad. The runner spawns in the beginning are a bit obnoxious, but the defense at the Winchester was pretty cool.

Problems:

The main entrance of the Winchester is a little difficult for zombies to actually path through, they sometimes seem to get stuck in the doorway trying to pile in.

You can just camp on top of the resupply crate at the finale (only like one person though).

The finale overall should have a lot more guns and melee. Not too much to make it ez, just enough so that you can actually live without camping on top of the supply crate.


This is an overall good port. Nice job.
