In 2014 I downloaded the demo for HL2 before I'd even played the first. Played the intro a bit, then quit. Years later, came back to it. For some reason, I popped open the game flies and looking around. In the main directory was a file titled "demo.bat" or something, and deleted it. I launched the game thinking "pfft there's no way that just gave me the full ga-" it did. The whole thing, all levels accessible, tested them. Ran around the intro for a bit again and then went to play Fallout. Forgot all about, until recently when this sale happened. I buy all the HL titles (not Alyx), and set them to download. As I'm watchin it happen, it takes BS and OP half a minute each to download, but gets to HL2, and literally just says "verifying files" or something, and then it's done, in like 10 seconds. Idk if Valve did this on purpose or it was an oversight, but in 2016 I got HL2 for free by deleting the demo file in the directory. Woulda said something sooner but didn't want to get sued.
