You have to research the merchant's hub, buy 5 animal carcasses so you can research the tanner and unlock hunting traditions, research hunting traditions, and then you can start making the workstations in the job-block crafter's workbench to go out hunting.
Mostly for leather crafting. I would think about different game types with different skin to meat ratio, but it's easy to make system too complex
Might be better once you have high-tier tools to speed up the glacial tanner's workshop, but then you probably have better sources of food anyways.
I doubt the mod author wants to revisit this, but if they did, it would be nice to have a chance to find "plump carcasses" that have a separate recipe that gives more meat and less skin. That might put it closer to fish in terms of efficiency.
