MV Forefront | Modern Ro/Pax Ferry

Description
Forefront - NeatNaut & Pagmon collaborative build

History (fictional ship)

Planning & Building

It's the early 2000s (SW Time), and Pagil Shipping needs a new vessel. For a fairly long time, operating small ro/ro river ferries around the Sawyer isles has worked for them, but with bigger companies like Sawyerlink on the rise and their ships growing old, this is slowly but surely becoming problematic. Although their future isn't sure, one thing is - they need a new ship, and fast. In 2001 (SW Time), the project is started. The plans call for a medium-range 65 meter ro/pax ferry, a very common type of vessel sailing the Stormworks seas. One thing that won't be too common about it though, is how modern and state of the art the ship was going to be. You can almost say the vessel was leading the Forefront of engineering with how advanced it was going to be. But how could it not be - the ship was mostly designed and built by Neatyards, a company known for building nuclear ships. After careful planning, the keel was laid down in late 2002 (SW Time) in Olsen Bay. Except for being quite long, the building process went well. And after 2 years, she was in service.

Early years

The first 3 years weren't the best for the ship. She wasn't necessarily losing money, but she wasn't gaining much of it either, certainly not enough to build another ship. The vessel even got into 2 incidents during this time, although they weren't very bad.

Finally successful

In early 2008 (SW Time), huge amounts of oil were found just North of Arid. This obviously drew tons of people South, and those people wanted to bring things like cars with them, which made ferry companies interested. And soon,
Pagil launched their new Holt town - FJ Warner - JSI docks route. This route was an instant hit, and was incredibly profitable for 19 more years.

Today

After these 19 years, the profits died down, and the ship was put on a whole different route in the Arctic. At this point, the ship was beginning to show her age, which prompted a refit in 2028 (SW Time). Today, she's still proudly sailing the Stormworks seas.

Incidents and Accidents

2005, Feb. 8th. (SW Time) - Collision with dock in Holt town - slight scraping on bow: repaired

2006, Aug. 5th. (SW Time) - Electric power to engines lost for 5 hours - tickets refunded: engines fixed at sea

2012, Nov. 21st. (SW Time) - Collision with tanker - damage to bow, tanker heavily damaged: repaired in drydock

2025, Jul. 16th. (SW Time) - Leak in engine room - water damage to engines: water pumped, engines repaired

do you plan on updating the ship to include releasing the lifeboats without manually doing it?
NeatNaut  [author] Nov 17, 2024 @ 1:49pm
You have to release them by hand, this was built before the update that lets you do that with logic

You need a modded workbench or have to use the add-on editor

how do I spawn it? I tried getting it in the creative island workbench, which I think is the biggest, and it didn't work

She does look very similar, though she was mainly kind of based on Superspeed 1/2

She reminds me of the Superfast I/II
