Currently in the process of remaking this addon from scratch.

(This mod uses Vox's Revised Subtitles as a base, thanks to them for giving me the all clear to release this!)

The custom Font I use is Urik - L4D1 Font Bold

This mod requires GCFScape and a Manual installation. There is a guide at the bottom of this page on how to manually install this. (I would of made a video but I'm too lazy and shy for that.)

Also note that when I update this mod (At some point) you'll have to re-manually install it again for those changes to take effect.


So basically I've taken Vox's Revised Subtitles and made some changes. A lot of changes...


Here's a rundown of the main things I've changed:

-Most lines where the survivor is dying / grabbed / in distress has been changed to bright red and is NOW IN CAPS

-Most lines that didn't show up now show up, such as Louis' vomited on lines and Bill's humming, this only works on single player / local servers where the host and you have this subtitle file installed

-Pain lines now show up as subtitles, this only works on single player / local servers where the host and you have this subtitle file installed

-Going to die third strike lines are now in red

-I didn't like how similar the two soldiers in The Parish's subtitle colours were so I've made rescue 7's a dark orange / brown

-taking pills / adrenaline and getting defibrillated lines are now in purple [Only L4D2 survivors have purple defib lines]

-Most death screams have been "Vocalised"
Old: "[Death Scream]" New: "AAAAH! AAAHHHH! HUGH! AAHHH! AAHH! WAHHHHHHHHHH!"

-L4D1 Survivor's laughter lines have been changed to [Laughter] Prev: [Short laugh] (For consistency)

-Any Laugh that is 3 or less "Ha"s will now show up "Vocalised"
Old: "[Laughter]" New: "Heh."

-Closed Captions have been remade to sorta integrate the Special Infected as their own character
E.g: Old: "[Charger Voice]" New: "Charger: [Speaking?]"

-Also to note: every "All right" has been changed to "Alright" (That's just how we spell it here in upside-down silly Australia, sorry if it bugs you.)

-A small amount of jokes / easter eggs (E.g: All of Coach's "Boy"s have been changed to "Boi")

Many, many, many other changes and refreshments. Enjoy.


-Some Changes I've made in Closed Captions just don't work / show up. (Map specific coloured [Horde Incoming!] and a few other things) I have no idea how to fix this but eh whatever.

Step 1: You'll need to subscribe to this mod and then load into L4D2. (This is so the file downloads.)

Step 2: Close L4D2 and navigate to Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop

Step 3: Find the .vpk file for Modified Subtitles (Look for the image of Coach and the .vpk file next to it.)

Step 4: Using GCFScape open up the file

Step 5: Put the .dat files in their respective folders. (I recommend making a copy of the default files so you can go back without having to verify game files.)
