Description
Block's Boss Bars

Block's Boss Bars is yet another mod about improving boss bars, simple as that. This particular mod adds in a new boss bar style that is more or less an improved version of the vanilla boss bar, and also has plenty of config for customizing how the boss bar looks and/or behaves. Read on for more details:

New Boss Bar Style:
Don't like how small and simple the vanilla boss bar is? This mod's boss bar has you covered with a faithful recreation of the vanilla boss bar, but with the following additions and improvements:
  • Customizable Size (From 50% to 200% of vanilla size)
  • Dynamic HP fill color that changes the lower health is
  • Shake and chip effects to make the boss bar a little more lively
  • Larger text display for HP. Boss's name is also displayed
  • A unique yet vanilla-faithful appearance - heavily inspired by Flashkirby's mod 'Yet Another Boss Health Bar' - that changes styles based on world seed and difficulty

Configuration:
Block's Boss Bars has extensive customization options that allow you to fine tune the behavior and appearance of its boss bar:
  • Text display: Toggle the name and numerical HP display on the boss bar. You can even use this mod's display on the vanilla bar! There is also an option to add HP in % form
  • Count optional boss parts: Ever wanted the boss bar to track Skeletron, Golem, and/or other bosses' optional parts? With, this mod, you can do that and more!
  • Appearance customization: Override the difficulty-dependent boss bar styling and choose your favorite bar. Some styles have special fill colors, which can also be toggled. Bar shake and chip effects can be adjusted/toggled, too.
  • Boss bars for all: Mark NPCs to be tracked by the mod and have boss bars drawn for them! Modders can add more intricate support for their own bosses via. Mod.Call.
  • Miniboss Bars: NPCs to have boss bars can also be marked to have miniboss bars, which have a unique, smaller texture

Open Source
  • This mod is open-source under the GNU GPLv3 license. In short, you’re allowed to view and utilize code from the source if you’d like, but if you want to publish any work you did with it, that project will have to use the same license (GNU GPLv3). The mod's LICENSE file contains the full details of terms and conditions, etc.
  • You can access the source-code using tML's extract function (Found in-game on the mod's More Info page in your Mods List).

Final Notes:
  • Shoutout to Flashkirby, whose 1.3 mod 'Yet Another Boss Health Bar' inspired this one!
  • Enjoy! I hope this mod makes your boss fighting experience more convenient and fun, even if just a little!

Hey, can I add you, I have a question about mod collaboration

@JJ's Place, yeah, the boss bar style setting is (AFAIK) the only exception to that (i.e. other mod settings are typically kept in the mod's respective config), as it's a feature added by tML itself and not any individual mod (Though you need a mod with its own boss bar style to use said feature, of course).

Ok i figured it out. Maybe adding a line in the description that tell new player how to use the mod. I've never seen a mod setting in the actual Tmodlader settings menu.

Yes i know i've messed around with all the configs. I have the style on Master Platinum, i have chipping and custom fill color on and all the extra bar for boss parts like skele and skele prime on no change. Just the vanilla bar.

@JJ's Place, the mod's custom bar is implemented as a 'boss bar style'. By default tML sets the active style to vanilla's, and you must change it to the one you want in Terraria's settings. IIRC the setting can be found in the Interface section of Terraria's settings menu (The one that can be accessed while the inventory is open), click on it to cycle through available styles and set it to the mod you want (In this case 'Block's Boss Bars'). Once set, your choice should persist until you disable the mod to which the boss bar style belongs.

I tired deleting and the reinstalling, the unsubscribing and re subscribing in the workshop and nothing changed the mod just seems to not be working.

So i have this mod enabled but none of the overhauled effects are being applied. Its like the mod isn't even installed. Should i delete it and then reinstall it?

alright I hope you can make it work
BlockCrusader  [author] Oct 2, 2024 @ 8:35am
@ClayWarTheOne, I should be able to modify the draw color of the bar (I.e. make it draw in something other than White, which draws the texture's pure, original colors), but it might not look good. I'll try it out when I add fill customization and see how it goes.

I feel like many people would want to change the colours of both (Golden ornaments, purple bar, appealing colour combos like that) but idk if you can even implement that, something like colour filters in photoshop, just for the two components. Anyways thanks for this awesome mod!!!
