Description
Restructures early tech, especially for tribal, and zero tech scenarios.

Research Changes

-ikwa is now free tech
-pila is now free tech

The Ikwa is kinda garbage melee weapon compared to the gladius, making it immediately redundant when Smithing is unlocked. Making this a free tech, it can now be crafted at the Crafting Spot along with the club, and knife.

The pila is kinda garbage ranged weapon compared to the short bow*, which in vanilla is a free tech. Pila has replaced the short bow as free tech at the crafting spot.

-Short bow is now a research

Short bows must now be researched under Archery, but it is a very cheap tech (100) .


Furniture Changes

It always bothered me that tribal starts had awkward mismatching such as having the butchering spot, and a butchering table; a campfire and the fuelled stove. So I added a new research called Simple Furniture to combat this annoyance.

The following must now be unlocked by the Simple Furniture research:

- Art Bench
- Butcher Table
- Fuelled Stove
- Simple Research Bench

Consequently,I have added a "Research Spot" that is free tech to allow researching to begin. This works at half the rate of the Simple Research Bench, but Simple Furniture is also a cheap tech.


Stonecutting got moved down a row to make room for Simple Furniture. If you are also playing with my Thermo mod, this works well, given that mod requires Stonecutting, and is on the same level.

*Please note that while pila is stronger are range, it's weaker in close quarters. Unless one has a mod like Simple Sidearms - melee damage DSP > Ranged. Besides, they are basically javelins (throwing spears - not to be confused with the spear melee weapon) and should be neolithic in the first place.

Please note, if you have a wall of screaming red errors, please either ignore them (not recommended) or disable all your mods, and repopulate them to remove any issues caused by the name changes in the 7th April 2024 update

If you are referring to Vanilla Expanded , I wasn't planning on catering to it, no. I do not think that this mod will be incompatible but that one, but is not a goal I had in mind. I am trying to steer clear of the complex, bloated mods and keep things simple.

This is a mod I've been looking for for a while. Is there plans to add compatibility with any VE mods. You a bunch of clothes and items which make tribal clothes and stuff redundant. And Vanilla primitive expanded is also not needed. Love this concept. Thanks
