Space engineers Tank guide V.1 (SETG)

Hi there, tank nuts!


In this guide, I want to show you how to improve your tank designs!
Tanks in Space Engineers tanks are sometimes lacking in terms of armor and firepower.
So yeah, make sure to watch the entire guide if you want to improve your tanks and other vehicles!

Tank armor

In Space, Engineers tanks are pretty easily to armor.
Here are some things you have got to keep in mind:
-Weight
-Clang (If block is deformable etc...)
-Coverage (How much the armor covers said area)
-Add-on Armor
-Ricochet

There are some ways to stop an incoming round:
Deflecting and absorbing

Ricochet

Recently in the Automatons update Keen added the Ricochet mechanics.
You can use these in some ways:
at 65°degrees, an assault cannon has an 50% chance of ricocheting.
At 70°degrees, an Artillery cannon has an 50% chance of ricocheting.
So you could use a 1x1x2 Ramp to ricochet assault cannons.

Now to absorbing a shell.
For absorbing a shell you need to use blocks with High Health like Gyroscopes or Space Balls.
Gyroscopes are perfect to counter Assault cannons.
To counter against Artilleries,Railguns and Twin Assaults (yes you can stack Assault cannons!) you would need
to use Space Balls.

You can also use Hydrogen tanks, Batteries or other inert components as armour.

There's "Composites" but I won't show them for now :)

I would not recommend adding "Subgrid Armor" to your vehicle since it can
fatally clang and lead to destruction of your vehicle

Fire and Control

Fire and Control is something to provide accuracy and stability to your Gun/Turret.
There are some scripts which I highly recommend when building tanks with turrets:
MART
TCES (If you want to use a Costum Turret Controller)
