The Astérix classic yatch can achieve high speed for a confortable range of more than 5000km using an ingenious combinaison of a diesel firebox and a steam piston engine. This high speed boat will cruise at more than a 100km/h while keeping you confortable with it's stylish art deco interior.

Captain's manual:

Before starting moving please secure the masts by turning the hand crank at their base for around 10 seconds each, start by the stern one then the bow mast.

Make sure to activate the storm stabilisation when encountering strong winds.

How to get through a storm:

1. Lower the elevation lever to -1.
2. Lower the pitch stabilisation lever to 0.
3. Activate the storm stabilisation (This is extra important, the ship WILL capsize if you don't activate this.)
4. If possible, steer the vessel in the direction of the wind.
5. Fill ballast if needed (For example, if the boat starts to turn into a plane)

How to start the generator in 10 simple steps:

1. Go in front of the furnace and open all 6 water valves, the 3 top valves and the fuel valve at the right
2. Head to the engineer's cabin at the stern of the ship
3. Connect the secondary battery to the main power grid using the circuit breaker
4. Sit at the engineer's control station and flip the 3 switch on the top right labeled 'Fuel' 'Water' and 'Steam' Pumps.
5. Monitor the furnace's fuel reserve on the bottom right, it should be rising, if it isn't, you may have to check if the fuel valve is open or the position of the battery's breaker.
6. When the furnace fuel reserve exceeds 10, return to the front of the firebox and turn the big ignition key.
7. Return back to the engineer's station to monitor the starting of the generator.
8. The furnace temperature, shown in front of the seat, will be rising and the furnace will start making a lot of noise.
9. Once the furnace as burnt trough it's fuel reserve, it will start to cool to 150°, this is normal behavior
10. You can monitor the boiler temperature on the center-left of the panel. Once it exceeds 100°, the generator will start producing power ( it may have up to 30 seconds beetwen the boiler reaching temperature and the generator starting ). Once the generation, shown on the big dial in the center, exceeds 500, you can turn to the breaker panel and connect all (or only desired but, juste like any of us, they all are importants in their own way) breakers.

- But my battery is dead from trying to power the motor without the generator being started !

Not a problem ! Disconnect all the breakers on the panel breaker (And the battery) and follow the starting procedure while turning the hand crank in the engineer's cabin until the generator is started.


- My piston is stuck in place because it stopped in the wrong position !

You can rotate the piston using the hand crank at the left of the firebox.


How to release the life raft in 3 simple steps:

1. Head to the stern of the ship, if you want to launch the raft to the left side of the ship, you need to head to the right side of the ship. If you want to launch it right, go to the left of the ship.
2. Detach all 3 ropes securing the liferaft
3. Use the pump to release the liferaft, it will start to slide and fall in the water, a rope will however still be attached to ship to prevent it from drifting too far before someone board it.

Someday it will, i need to find the motivation to rewrite my horrible, unmaintanable, piss covered lua code.

How does the ship can go so far without exploits* ?

TL;DR: A single firebox can output 3600swatt using 0.1L of diesel per second.

The diesel firebox is insanly efficient when limiting it's temperature and diesel flow. By setting a variable valve before the pump if can limite the diesel flow and still get temperatures around 150 degrees which are still well enough to run a single piston. The water is also directly filtred from sea water to fresh water using the desalinator, this allow the ship to be lighter by not carrying a heavy condensator, plus it make a cool looking white exhaust smoke. The piston then drives a bunch of flywheels to provide a smooth rps that goes into a big generator. I will investigate this further to create a hyper efficient generator.

* I am using pivot glitch but the generator part is still the same.
* If you don't consider the broken mechanics to be an exploit.

Why do the ship needs a separate "storm stabilisation ?"

The ship being a little shaky at high speed, i needed to find a solution, i first opted for a traditionnal tilt sensor approach but i found that the fins had either too much effect or not enough. I so opted for a delta-tilt approach by opposing any *change* in roll which works really great. However the fins oppose also the righting of the ship when hit by a big wave which result in a capsize within 3 to 4 waves.

I checked and the fuel level is at 100%, maybe you didn't have enough fuel in your base ?
I'll check the stability of the ship because that seems kind of weird

same here, it flips in no wind and im having trouble starting the yacht up
