Національна бібліотека України імені Вернадського — головна академічна бібліотека та головний науково-інформаційний центр України, одна з найбільших національних бібліотек світу. Бібліотека має найповніше зібрання слов'янської писемності, архіви видатних світових і українських учених і діячів культури. У фонді – колекція президентів України, архівні примірники українських друкованих документів 1917 року, архів Національної академії наук України. Будівля була побудована в бруталістичному стилі між 1975 і 1989 роками. Вона має загалом 27 поверхів, що охоплюють центральну вежу заввишки 76,7 метрів, де зберігається основна колекція. The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine is the main academic library and main scientific information center in Ukraine, one of the world's largest national libraries. The library has the most complete collection of Slavic writing, archives of outstanding world and Ukrainian scientists and cultural persons. The holdings include the collection of the presidents of Ukraine, archive copies of Ukrainian printed documents from 1917, and the archives of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Annually they receive anywhere between 160,000 to 180,000 documents including books, magazines, newspapers… It has also been designated as a United Nations depository library tasked with receiving all English and Russian language publications from the United Nations and its special institutions.
