North eastern JGR-TS

These 6 jgr-ts were built in Darlington in 1899 and designed by j.h colby , these were very successful and proved themselves to be one of the best express engines for the North eastern railway, each one were named after manors , they lasted until 1939 were they were withdrawn , 901 and 904 and 906 would see preservation at a museum and publicity displays for LNER , In the 1920s their main duty was taken by the A1s, they lasted with goods traffic until withdrawal , however they were re-introduced to the M.O.D for uses in ww2 which saw 902,903 and 905 shipped to Europe for transporting major supplies to trenches , at the end 902 and 905 only returned with 903 being bombed and destroyed sometime in 1944. 901 remains at the NRM which she also sees running on the mainline , 904 now remains on static display at head of steam at Darlington after withdrawal in 1947. 906 is now at the NYMR after being purchased by them, and sees running with diner trains , 902 is very special, still in war condition and sees many visits to heritage railways as a static display as the owners are keeping it all original. Non of them ever had service with br as they were very old by 1950s. 905 was sadly scrapped upon returning to the UK , she had suffered major failures and was deemed damaged beyond repair, many of her parts were given to other jgr-ts for future use.
