A (Not So) Small Guide For Pattern Based Skins

This guide is for pattern based skins of a different variety, not super popular pattern based skins such as the case hardened, slaughter, kami, etc. but the under appreciated skins that don't have much popularity. Skins where there are rare patterns, cool patterns and sticker crafts that are possible with the skins that are not usually under the spotlight. In this guide we will be showing the cooler and unknown side of pattern based skins that exist. the skins that aren't super expensive, have a ton of variety, and are accessible to a person with a lower budget than the inventory warriors playing nowadays. Also breaking down some history on some old patterns that have gone down as meme patterns throughout CSGO history....

INTRODUCTION

WARNING FOR CS2!!!! PLS READ

Unfortunately I must bring this to the attention of anyone looking to invest into pattern based skins. especially with CS2 coming soon, some of these skins have not made the transfer properly. Be it sticker placement or the pattern not being transferred over properly. Some of the skins that we have with CSGO may look different temporarily. I believe in valve's potential to fix a lot of these issues as soon as possible however with CS2 being in an open beta as of me writing this. Pattern based skins are having issues. The main issues I am currently seeing throughout my own inventory is that they are having a few key problems that are being addressed.

• Pattern not transferring over properly
  
• Pattern not being placed over the legacy models and are instead being over-layed on the newer gun models. causing issues
  
• New sticker positions on guns and stickers resized causing issues with crafts
  
• patterns being placed completely different from CSGO to CS2 on legacy models

I Have faith that when the full release of CS2 comes out that these issues will be resolved and there are some key factors pointing to this in-game. when the first wave of releases were out. these issues were way more apparent on some of the more popular guns such as the case hardened, of course these skins themselves took more precedence and were fixed very quickly as they are worth a ton of cash. when bringing up a less popular skin that is worth under $5, they were fixed slowly and consistently. with some being left behind. This is understandable and should not prevent you from investing even if you do not have a copy of CS2 yet. they will be fixed eventually.

Of course this is blind faith with some research behind it. Valve will not F-up their skins market as that is where their revenue Is and the issues we are seeing are just temporary as it is an open beta state right now. please be patient and understand when it comes to developing games, some things take time to fix. knowing the game industry, this will take awhile to fix so that players are happy and investors can be satisfied.

If a developer is reading this, just do one thing for me. if its pattern based. leave it on a legacy model.

*UPDATE* 10/23 valve has fixed some of the issues regarding, wear and pattern on some of these skins. not all have made the transfer even months after the release of CS2 though the major problem of the patterns being blended has been resolved for some skins.

*update* 3/24 valve still has some issues with blending of patterns on a few skins. mostly unknown skins. however most issues have been resolved in that manner. valve has seemed to stuck with the decision to put some of these old collection skins on the newer models besides listening to the (albeit small group of ) collectors that are purchasing these skins for their older rare patterns. as disappointing as it is. it seems that some of the older niche pare pattern skins have died. valve pls fix.

Essentially i will just run through some notable skins from each gun if available then some small discussions on some things at the end of the guide. I hope that anyone who reads this guide can find the cool patterns that they want and we can bring some discussion to the patterns of the future!

What Are Pattern Based Skins?

WHAT IS A PATTERN BASED SKIN?

Starting off if you know nothing on what a pattern based skin is, essentially i would first recommend that you read the guide "Skins introduction - Floats & Patterns" as they explain way better what patterns are and floats are than I would want to break down in this guide. If you have a poor internet connection and you cant just open another link then I will break it down.

A pattern based skin is a skin built around a pattern template that is placed over a skin. How this template is placed is varied from 0 to 1000, meaning that there are 1001 different possibilities for what pattern you can have on a pattern based skin. As the pattern template is moved around, the pattern placement can greatly change the way that a skin can look as well as how much the skin can be valued at. In the case of a famous example of a AK-47 Case-hardened there is a great change in price depending on what pattern the skin has. from $2'000 to well over $100,000 dollars. This guide will not be going over such drastically priced skins in favor of the under appreciated ones.

We will be going over some of the skins that are lesser known that don't have guides so please go to the guide link below as a reference for more common guns. BUT WHY DO I WANT A PATTERN BASED SKIN?
You don't. please do not look for pattern based skins in the market, I'm always looking for that one really cool pattern and I don't want to have to overpay for anything. So, if you would, just go buy your basic B gun that has no variety besides your bad 4x holo craft. and leave the cool patterns for me. I don't even know why I'm making this guide because I don't want any competition in the market. But it irritates me that people don't know about some of these guns so... oh well ill make a guide for y'all. Yall better send me some cool skins though lol.

Why do the patterns look inverted?
the way that the skin is layered using the pattern requires that it have multiple layers that can be read by the game. for the final result it comes out as a bright photo however the game reads it as multiple layers.

Setup Guide for Pattern Searching

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN YOUR SEARCH

Ultimately you will need to setup your browser to help you search within steam. using the steam App on your phone or PC will halter your ability to find what you want and slow you down when searching the markets.

There are Three things that you will need to do.

1 - OPEN UP CS.MONEY OR THE CSGO WIKI

The WIKI Will most likely be your best friend and secret lover in your escapade to pattern searching skins in CSGO. what the wiki provides is the ability to look at every pattern one by one, for most pattern based skin (given that it takes awhile for the new ones to be documented).


You will be able to skim through patterns one by one if you so choose, see them in-game, in 3D view, The animations etc. Its a patient process though if you get used to doing this for hours on end while listening to Deathgrips at 2x speed, you can find cool patterns in the most unlikely places. If you manage to find this fun then you have the makings of a great pattern collector.

2 - Csgostash or Pattern.wiki

i wish i knew about this website months ago smh.
Pattern.wiki

pattern.wiki is a incredible way to search through patterns easily on your phone or computer. I especially think that the phone support is better on this website than any other option. Another great part of pattern.wiki is that you can see the pattern without the inverted color scheme and can just see what the pattern looks like on the skin, however with a watermark. a downside to this website is that it only gives you a 2D model of the skin so you cant check the back of the gun or ingame model like you would be able to on csmoney or the wiki. However with the ease when it comes to bulk pattern searching makes this website a major plus.

i built this guide without using those photos however as a person brought up to me in the comments that they wanted the pattern templates that look more similar to in-game. pattern.wiki is the place to find those photos if anyone would be interested in using them for videos or guides in the future.

an issue with Patter.wiki is occasionally the patterns shown on the website aren't accurate sadly. due to Cs2 i think... idk.

Stash is the easiest way for you to see the pattern templates of the skins without me having to explain the long drawn out process of diving in the game files to see the template. it is essential so that you can see the template, what is on the template, what you want to see on your skin etc.

3 - CSGOFLOAT MARKET CHECKER

This is most likely the MOST IMPORTANT Crucial step to have done. Get the Market checker. its a plugin for chrome and other browsers. even if you don't do anything else in this guide you should still add this to your browser if you are getting into skins and patterns. this plug-in allows you to see the float and Paint Seed for any skin in the community market.


Theres a trick to using this plugin and it is the ALMIGHTY CTRL + F MENU

once you have the market checker, you can use the CTRL + F menu to search the entire page for the number of pattern that you are looking for. it will pop up a bar on the bottom of the page and if you are per say looking for pattern 256 in this example. you can type it and it will highlight every 256 on the page. and have a "jump to" tool next to the search bar. this works incredible well for what we are trying to do, which is find patterns. given that if you want pattern #6 you are going to have alot harder of a time finding the exact pattern you want though, great strength come with great weakness.

The 5 Types of Patterns

This is a grouping of types of patterns as I would describe them. The similar themes of types of pattern based skins. I will be using the XM1014 as a way to show these skins and their differences as the XM has a ton of pattern based skins; even more than its regular skins. for some reason. idk

CAMO PATTERNS
Perhaps one of the most common pattern based skins in CSGO, these are generally just a simple tactical camouflage pattern ranging from grey, green, blue, and white. There are rare occasions where these have patterns that are desirable. Most skins look the same as there's nothing particularly unique. This is the Urban Perforated. you can see that there's nothing cool really to be had with this skins pattern. There are some interesting camo skins that have bright colors and good potential depending on what you want.

TEXTURE PATTERNS
Texture patterns as I would describe look similar at a distance though change between skins. Usually metallic in nature and having a lot of depth. You can find rare patterns in this type but generally these patterns aren't very flashy and don't tend too vary when it comes to color. A good example is the Frost Borre, between patterns there are noticeable changes though all together look similar from an untrained eye. Though for those that look can find interesting things in dark water (see what i did there?)

COLOR PATTERNS
Color patterns are patterns that vary when it comes to color between patterns. A color based pattern may have, lets say, orange and blue in its template. You should be able to find a blue pattern, and a orange pattern among the 1001 options. Some skins have patterns that you can find different colored versions between them. A good example would be the Ziggy. It has a purple and green template where you can find green patterns and purple patterns. The Ziggy even has a bit of an easter egg of a lightning bolt! Some skins are known for their colored versions, like the sandstorm and case hardened where value is derived from the most color.

CROWDED PATTERNS
Crowded patterns are patterns that have a lot going on with the design generally filling the entire template with little details that just wait to be snap-shot on your gun forever. Generally when looking through crowded patterns you find a small detail or object on the texture pattern that you like and try to find the pattern that has it in an optimal placement. These are my favorite kinds of patterns as there is the most potential with crafts. A great example is the Ancient Lore, you can find some incredibly interesting patterns with low effort. Patience is key as these patterns often take the longest to find in a crowd.

EASTER EGG PATTERNS
As one would say, the Easter egg pattern is the prize jewel of the collector. These skins will generally have one small detail on the pattern template that may show up on 10 out of 1000 skins. Of course some skins have patterns rarer than others, though when it comes down to it. Placement is key, they can make or break the value and potential for crafts. Usually garnering their own names, we all love classic Easter egg patterns like the Golden Cat AWP PAW, or community made Eggs such as the P* Pattern Kami 5-7 though some things require elegance, dedication and sheer will to make work on a skin. I could show you the Blue Leaf pattern for the XM1014 Seasons though, I will be showing you one of my personal favorites The Elegant Vines Rose pattern egg *sips my wine*

Explaining my Grading Chart

Uniqueness
-How different each skin is from each other based on the patterns

1 = all patterns look about the same
3 = patterns have minor differences such as splashes of colors or design
5 = patterns have some large differences between rare patterns though most look the same
7 = there are big differences between most skins, some rare skins
10 = all patterns are very unique

Potential
- How the skins would work with sticker crafts, inventory crafts, and how cool rare patterns can be

1 = this skin ain't cool to anybody but me because I don't know anything
3 = this pattern can occasionally have good patterns where i can do cool things
5 = the patterns have good colors and designs that can match up with my stickers and skins
7 = there are rare patterns to be had and by golly I'm gonna find em
10 = Superb eye candy, I have style, and am super humble and cool.

Is It Rare?
- What percentage of patterns look unique?

1 = you would be hard pressed to find a pattern on this skin that didn't look like all the others
3 = I like this one because its a bit different than the others
5 = about half of the skins look like this but I like this version because its *:･ﾟ✧Pretty*:･ﾟ✧
7 = this took me some time to find though there are a few versions of this skin that look like this
10 = dude I've been looking for this pattern ID for months now, it only cost me a bit of my sanity and my left nut to get, but it is the best pattern

- This is my personal rating, which will give me a reason to talk about the skin

1 = nah imma be real, go touch grass
3 = i get it, but not for me

USP-S | Target Acquired

The target acquired is a really tough skin to judge based on its pattern. I would say that the pattern itself is cool and it shows itself to have some really cool patterns available with the potential agent and target 14 spots being the eggs of this skin. Though with the price tag of this skin and how limited the choices are for patterns on the market are, its no wonder that this is a seldom seen skin. This is a really cool texture pattern for people with the money to spend on it and finding a pattern with good placement of the eggs will be greatly rewarding especially with a good sticker craft of this gun. This is a hard target to find however.


USP-S | Orange Anolis

The Orange Anolis is what I would consider to be an excellent Color pattern for people that want either a Red or Orange inventory. you can find good patterns on both ends of the spectrum and even in field-tested this skin looks clean for the most part being a metallic finish. Though there are really no "rare" patterns for this skin finding one that flows the way you want can be really rewarding.

USP-S | Ancient Visions

The Ancient Visions is probably one of my favorite Usp-s skins that's pattern based, given that I'm really fond of Crowded patterns. The AV has a good spread of patterns that are fiery red and lush green with the small chance of having a Jackal or Tiger eggs. while I'm a fan of getting this skin to be as red as possible you can clearly tell that the potential for this skin can be great with the options. A great mid-range skin for the people willing to invest a little into pattern based as well. this skin can also be an eye catcher for people that have not seen it before. Underrated for sure.



P2000 | Space Race

Part of the Sputnik pattern set the Space race is one of the most unique p2000 patterns on the market right now. able to have a diverse set of different possibilities when it comes to pattern. there is a great sputnik guide for the deagle that exists. and you can get just as crazy with the p2000 at the end of the day. you can even try to match them up! I Have the rarity low because there are so many patterns that one could really want on this skin.

P2000 | Granite Marbleized

I added this one because there is a MEME. The pattern seed 125 Hamster pattern on this skin, which people really seem to enjoy. This is a good chase for someone just getting into pattern based skins looking for a challenging hunt. its not much to look at, but if you know, you know. also seed #235 is known as the "sloth face pattern"


P2000 | Dispatch

This P200 is part of the control collection set. there are a few skins that use this pattern which is why I bring it up now. personally I'm not a fan of this set or collection of skins, however there are very few color based skins that have the option between three colors, red, white and blue. I also think that its a bit expensive to buy for what you get. but if you are looking for a themed inventory you might like this one, Im sure there are a few gems inside this pattern.


Honorable Mention
P2000 Acid Etched and P2000 Oceanic
These two skins are great especially since there are tons of creative patterns for both of these skins. I'm not including them however because I am trying to go over some of the under appreciated skins lol and these have small guides on them. Also both of these skins have P* patterns. since they are are mirrored placement.

Glock-18

Glock-18 | Catacombs

The catacombs is a really awesome Texture pattern with a crowded design, easter eggs, and good price. you generally wont have to pay overpay for any rare pattern because most of these skins look the exact same, however to the trained eye. you can find some major differences. I consider this however to be an inventory hero. it can be awesome to look at in your inventory, though in game it may be hard to see the details.

Glock-18 | Red Tire

A really cool and unique gun where compared to the XM blue tire its a tad bit easier to find a rush B pattern the only issue is that in higher wears the entire design gets scraped off and quickly too! though if you find a nice pattern with this skin you'll love it!

Another cool thing with glocks is when they are pattern based is you can find different colored tips! this is a red tip Glock-18 Red tire as well as a gold tip Glock-18 Grinder! the grinder has multiple different tips that you can find pretty easily, blue, pink, green etc. most are silver though.

you'll never see them in-game but its definitely a flex ****UPDATE**** The Red Tire has been imported to the new Glock model and no longer shows the red tip anymore. Valve PLS Fix!!!

Glock-18 | Steel Disruption

I put this one here as a way to explain a mind numbing type of pattern. Perfectly level. good luck looking through all 1001 patterns, then having to find that online. Just for something so OCD that it makes no sense to anyone looking at it lmao. the best way to look for a perfectly level skin is by using the Pattern.wiki website as it tells you the exact placement of the template.

R8 Revolver | Phoenix Marker

The only notable R8 Pattern that we have in the game currently, the other being the fade. This skin does have some pretty cool patterns if you can find them. also the best purple r8 IMO. getting the bird head on the gun where you want it is a really satisfying search. I will say that I wish that the bird was facing the other way smh.

Desert Eagle | Blaze

A Historical Gun when looking at OG Sticker crafts. I personally didn't realize that this was a pattern based skin for a long time until looking at the CRAZY Deagle Flamethrower craft. depending on how the flames line up you can make the I buy power breath flames. and I think that's pretty cool

Five-Seven / Tech-9 / CZ75-Auto

The neon kimono is a great example of a skin getting hunted out of existence. Back in the day it was easy to find these for 5 dollars or less with either a heavy green pattern or White pattern now they cost hundreds of dollars and are used for trade-up fodder. I get it but, if you have a really good pattern KEEP IT!

Five-SeveN | Forest Night (Mustache pattern #545)

nice little simple mustache pattern, these aren't too insane to find as there are around 9,000 in existence however the search does take awhile. a lot of five-seven patterns involve little faces on the back of the gun, this is one of my favorites that you can get for no overpay.

Tec-9 | Hades

The tech-9 hades is a wear pattern based skin, which means that as it gets more and more battle scarred skulls show up instead of helmets. a really excellent skin in my opinion. though not a rare pattern to be found. just a nice little texture pattern. this is also similar to the P90 - Deathgrip if you are looking for something to match!

Tec-9 | Ice Cap

The Ice Cap Is a blue and white Pattern based skin. Applied to the Tec-9 this skin has a ton of opportunity to fill out your inventory and there is a bit of technique (get it) to having a clean ice cap. on the top of the gun theres a plate that; because of the way the pattern is layed down on the tech-9; can look like a completely different color. Finding the balance between the two layers is part of the challenge of the ice cap.

CZ75-Auto | Polymer

The polymer is a great skin for new players as it is incredibly cheap and finding a green or blue pattern is SUPER EASY! they look really good in all floats and even if you don't play with the cz in game I recommend you pick one of these up just to have!

P250 / Dual Berettas

The Supernova is an interesting skin that requires alot of taste. with how the pattern template lays on the p250 finding a pattern that meshes the slide and body of the p250 is a difficult task but rewarding for such an inexpensive skin. you can get this skin to look really nice with very little effort.

P250 | Exchanger

The Exchanger is a cool Skin with a ton of potential, with the pattern template working the way it does, you can get a skin with a ton of blue that looks great with the slide and small details on the gun. it does however take some effort to find cool versions on it that work with the image. though if you spend the time with it theres no doubt you can find a cool pattern that matches both the front and back.

Dual Berettas - Jesus Pattern

A community made Easter Egg the dual Berettas have been given the Egg dubbed the Jesus pattern. This is a wear pattern given to painted Berettas. particularly this is a Wear pattern that requires a certain float range. according to some in the CS2 updates these dont look the same anymore, and with the discontinuation of CSGO inventory support without community maps you cannot see how they used to look. almost an extinct skin. will it rise again?

Dual Berettas | Switch Board (LOL Pattern)

Pattern id #80 this is the LOL pattern for the dual berettas, an incredibly difficult skin to find this pattern on as. overall there are around 632 currently in existence to choose from. Seeing one of these in game is rarer than a dragon lore! on an industrial skin no less.

This is an interesting skin, in my opinion, there are alot of hidden easter eggs on the pattern in particular. the way that this skin can look good is if you pick a pattern where the rotation allows you to be able to read the small details on the skin. If your name is Brian this skin is for you.

MAC-10 | Last Dive

The last dive Is a great example of a pattern based skin done RIGHT. Each skin looks different, there's big grouping that allows you to find what you want out of the skin without much spill over. rare patterns, and cool options. Despite the lack luster coloring that's limiting when you try to make sticker combos on the gun. I think that if you want to make a pattern based skin. look at this one as your reference. 10/10

MP9 | Stained Glass

The stained glass is a cool color/texture pattern that if you can find the proper placement of the ruby tiles this skin looks sexy as hell. its pretty expensive though so being able to find a good pattern in low float is next to impossible. Love the skin though

THE SCARIEST SKIN EVER, I NEVER see this in game and I get it! Really a faces of death kinda gun still a really fun pattern tho. You can pick your favorite face and try to get it centered in just the right way so that when you inspect it you get jump scared! is it a strategy to have your opponent inspect your gun? I guess we'll see.

P90 | Cocoa Rampage

Cocoa rampage is a interesting story of dinosaurs with guns versus Aliens and planets. this is a challenging skin in my opinion. Getting a version with good placement of your favorite section is pretty hard and challenging; otherwise, a really good budget skin if you're looking for something unique.

MP7 | Vault Heist

The vault heist probably has the best execution of this pattern among all gun variations of this pattern. the yellow and black looks incredibly clean especially in game. the tad metallic nature of the gun also adds some shine to the gun. this gun builds really well for Yellow crafts as well.

PP-Bizon / MP5-SD

The PP-Bizon has little to no notable pattern based skins. just color and texture based skins. the only skin with a tad bit of variation is the jungle slipstream. but other than that, we are gonna skip this gun.


MP5-SD | Autumn Twilly

Besides being a part of a Pattern Collection I think the Autumn Twilly is the better of the two pattern skins for the MP5. The other being the lab rats. I just think it looks super neat with the art deco style of pattern and it flows really well across all patterns.

THE XM1014 HAS THE MOST PATTERN BASED SKINS IN THE GAME! i would be wasting my time if i put them all here so that's why I used them as examples earlier. I definitely recommend checking out the various different guns in the store. As for a pattern guy such as myself, your xm has to look clean.

Nova / XM1014

The blaze orange and the modern hunter are two skins that belong to the same pattern but in different colors. if you're looking to flex match the pattern up between the two in your inventory. its harder said than done. this pattern has been known to get overpay if you can get the branch to line up with the body. I think it looks cool that way too. there is also an XM1014 version of this skin.

Nova | Windblown

The windblown is a very slept on nova, especially when it comes to pattern based skins. The windblown has the Bird-shot Easter egg which is a bird that can sometimes appear on the muzzle of the gun to help your bullets fly. Its also surprisingly rare with around 50~ patterns with the bird on the gun. Also a very affordable chase for newcomers to pattern based with a large pool of these in the market as of now.

XM1014 | Zombie Offensive

XM1014 | Blue Tire - Charizard Pattern

The Negev doesn't have any notable pattern based skins, mostly just ones built off of collection templates. If I had to put a skin here it would be the Negev | Bulkhead simply because the pattern template can produce some clean crafts, #260 being the p*ssy Pattern. However simply because it is from the same collection as the P250 I put before this. No other ones really apply. the phoenix collection is a fun one to search for so you get the head on the mag however it isnt as rare or "poppy" as one might like due to the colors. Also expensive as shiz.

M249 | Emerald Poison Dart

the ak also has the hydroponic which is an X-offset pattern so it doesnt change much between skins, almost being identical. and the safety net which is a camo skin that is orange and white. the safety net you can find some color change however nothing eyecatching enough to write home about. one could also argue that the jungle spray has some nice patterns but it is also a camo skin that costs 4 cents lol.

please vote for a new pattern based ak-47 or rifle. we need more in the game. :)

An interesting concept for those willing to fish for patterns in unlikely places, the VariCamo pattern appears on the Tec-9, M4A1-S, G3SG1, and the Galil AR. Though the dolphin pattern M4a1-s is the more popular variant, there are multiple "Dolphin patterns" for each weapon some patterns even showing 2 or even 3 "Dolphins". it was popularized in late 2019 among deep collectors and remains a cheap pickup for those looking for a budget search to start their collection. (Pattern index 367 in photo), i haven't seen if it works on a Bright Water, though i wouldn't be suprised.

M4A4 | Daybreak

The current best Pattern based main rifle. Simply because there are 4 that aren't camo patterns and 2 that aren't color patterns. this is an Easter egg pattern. and an OG one at that. truly a fine balance of simplicity and function. there are some insane crafts made with this skin based on the location of the sun as a way to further the craft. While we definitely need more pattern based skins for our rifles. you really cant complain about this one.

Back to the ruins collection i will have to say, Valve did an excellent job with the skins in the ancient collection. this skin works incredibly well with a red inventory and finding a pattern that is either all red or has the Easter egg is really no issue at all. I really enjoy this skin. the way the template is layed on the skin you cant get the little man centered on the body, however its a pretty fun little dude and will rarely land on the mag. Which i think is rarer than having it on the stock.

Galil AR | CAUTION!

There are ~40 ish white scope versions of this skin and there is plenty of discourse as to which pattern is the best. there are also variants called scar patterns where the triple lines go through the scope.



SSG 08 | Spring Twilly

And a long time ago there was hype around the 341 pattern, pictured below. sort of a lenny variant. there's around 3 versions of this kind of pattern on this skin.

SCAR-20 / G3SG1

Dark Water / Slaughter Patterns ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Among pattern guys, the dark water has some of the most fun and discussed texture patterns in the game. Pattern guys will go absolutely crazy about trying to get overpay on their weapons because it has something cool that's unique on it that, such as a heart, diamond zebra patterns, phoenix, etc. though back in the day there was one pattern considered to be funny and cool.

the OG LENNY PATTERN ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This is clearly the most important meme pattern you can get on these weapons.
you can even get it on a Bayonet Slaughter 447 Lmao


I'm not going to break down every Dark water / Slaughter pattern, as I don't want too. I will say however; that the Dark water / Slaughter are peak OG texture patterns. Just the right size and enough variety to push creativity. The Lenny ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) pattern is not possible on every Dark water / Slaughter and some guns like the M4a1s have only around one or two patterns.

These can also be described as double diamond patterns online.

Legend says that one day the chosen one will collect every Lenny ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) pattern for a meme inventory. until then we can only wait.

Camo / Color Pattern-Based Skins

While I don't talk too much about Camo skins very much in this guide there is a reason. Most just look the same! However there are some Camo skins that you can find patterns where color is a defining factor in what skin you could want. Such as the Blood Tiger Set


This set has defining Red streaks that go across the pattern and looking through the skins, you can find some patterns with more or less red on them. What is cool about these camo/color patterns is that there is rarely overpay on the different skins. Here is an example.

You can clearly tell that there is more red on one and more black on the other. Depending on what you want, either can be desirable to a different person. Here's another example if you are colorblind. The Pink DDPAT Set.

There can be a bit of overpay on pink DDPAT skins with more or less pink depending if the person really has their eyes on a particular pattern. more so for the AWP in this example though the glock can find overpay aswell.


Understand, it is rare to find overpay in these skins. theres no such thing as a best pattern in most cases. there are some better patterns and there are really cool crafts on these patterns using the colors and the way the sticker lands on the skin. Just don't go out saying you have the #1 pink pattern glock, you wont get any special reward lol.

these are some camo skins I would classify as camo/color skins. They have streaks of color and have a static pattern with few details. And between patterns you can find variation not usually found in camo skins.

In the case of knifes there are groups that are people who enjoy the look of Camo skin knifes where the pattern lines up and makes the skin look entirely in one color. a great example is the urban masked and scorched patterns for the stiletto. If you find a good pattern you can make the knife appear almost entirely white/black.

Stat-track VS. Souvenir VS. Collection Skins

So There is definitely a discourse among skin junkies such as myself, Do I need stat-track? can my skins be souvenir? should I scrape my stickers so i can see the pattern? Does it really matter?

naw just do what you want. just check the price of your skin before you buy. if you can find your favorite pattern in stat-track. that's awesome but alot of pattern based skins are in collections. i know its tough that every kill you get isnt being charted. but for a collector. its about the pattern not if its in fac-new stat-track. its about the pattern not if its the more expensive version of the skin.

also try not to scrape the map sticker off of souvenir skins if you can help it. you cant fix that mistake. And if you are buying a $600 dollar or more souvenir weapon don't scrape the stickers at all. you probably cant replace them.

Pattern 0 skins and Pattern 1000 Skins

So another Underrated and seldom looked at pattern to collect in Csgo is pattern ID 0 Skins

To Explain, when you look at a patterned skin in your steam inventory there is a small photo of the skin to show you what it looks like. This photo is showing the pattern id 0 version of the skin.

here is an example. the glock grinder
The pattern on the photo you see on steam and the pattern 0 skin in-game are the exact same. Often these aren't the most impressive patterns to look at but if you see a pattern 0 skin, its sometimes fun to pick them up. They are also the pattern you see when you inspect a case.

In most cases, the pattern ID 1 and Pattern ID 0 are the same. However they are registered under different patterns.

On the other end of the spectrum Pattern ID 1000 skins. These are also cool because you can't get them as a drop from a case or collection. Cases and drops only give you Pattern ID 0 - 999. These patterns can only be traded up to become a pattern 1000 skin. Its a niche kind of skin but fun when you see them available.
