Description
SAMAD 1 "Horned Lizard"

The Surface to Air Missile, Air Defence "Horned Lizard" is a unique platform in Stormworks. It's defining feature is the primary weapon of 4 "Bright Falcon" manually guided surface to air missiles that are lightning fast, manoeuvrable, and devastating. The missiles themselves are aimed using SACLOS, meaning that the target has no laser or radar warning of the incoming projectile. This also means if an operator is skilled enough, they can lead targets travelling at high speeds that a radar missile would not normally be able to intercept. This missile also features a player-based proximity fuse, meaning that if a target is manned by a player, survivor, or NPC, the missile will fuse when it gets close to the target. The "Horned Lizard" platform itself is quick, with 2 light auto cannons to deal with targets up close.

Information:

  • 2 missiles ready, 2 stored in hull
  • Top vehicle speed of 100 km/h
  • 5 speed manual transmission
  • Mouse aimed missiles at 300m/s with a range of ~4000m
  • Unique SACLOS through radio communication and laser sensors
  • Automatic chaff defence (press 5 in turret seat to enable)

How To Use:

  1. To drive, enter the driver's seat through the turret, ensure power is on, and turn the key to your left.
  2. Use W/S to change gears, and A/D to steer.

  1. To aim the missiles, mount the small turret in on the roof of the platform.
  2. Aim your mouse left and right to adjust the yaw of the turret, and up and down to adjust the pitch. The launcher's will match your aiming position.
  3. Always fire the left missile (1) first, then right (2) then press (3) to reload
  4. The missile will always try to correct it's position exactly to where your cursor is pointing. Use binoculars to get extra visual range. Launch the missile upwards at first to prevent it from striking the ground.
  5. Make small, smooth adjustments for the best missile control.

The driver's seat is on the right hand side of the compartment. Flip the breaker to give the driver power, turn the key and the engine will start automatically. Shifting gears is manual so you have set speeds from -1, neutral, to +4.
