Carbon Expanded

Description
V1.0 Carbon! Its all around us ready to be utilized! Are you ready to see how?

First and Foremost I am not affiliated with the Vanilla expanded team.

3 New structures and 6 new materials all revolving around elemental carbon! Explore through progression the uses of carbon at different levels!

New hard fabric for those bullet resistant dusters? Carbon Nanotubes!

A way to turn stone to steel? You got it!

Advanced metals for structures and items? 3 times over

And alas a new generator extracting energy through local heat as well as a battery to boot!

I invite critiquing and suggestions as this is my 2nd mod on my road of trying to learn rimworld modding

Hello @Altanius I appreciate the feedback, I've made some changes to the stats in addition to increasing the yield when converting CNTs to the CNT fiber so hopefully its more useful

@Silence Me too! slowly but surely I'm working out the kinks in this base version as I dial some of it in. In a way it is a sort of modding demo for myself lol, but I am looking into adding things like carbon fiber and maybe some special defenses but that'll come when I dissect the code a little more. Currently I'm just limited to xml and texture work until I understand how to use unity for my own assemblies and all that

@TurboPickle
I really like this idea, i'm excited to see where it goes

Instead of outright insulting the creator and being as vague as possible, offer genuine constructive criticism... A nice suggestion perhaps?

"There's so many many things this mod could do yet it's heavily limited"
What things could it do that it doesn't? Give some *suggestions*

"i personally find this interesting but dont care to add it"
Then don't. Not every mod is made for every person.

"Second of all, the cropping of textures and ill invested quality of everything makes me question if there was actually any proper effort put towards the mod"
There was effort, because this mod exists. It's not easy to do! The fact that modders take time out of their day to make mods and then share them with the community is a miracle in and of itself.

The only thing that's shameful about this page is your comment on it...

For a hopefully more constructive criticism, you might want to buff CNT fabric a bit. It's strictly inferior to Devilstrand, which is much easier to manufactor, since it can just be grown and requires no processing unlike the CNTs. Makes it pretty hard to justify using it in most contexts.

Star, whose sole contributions to modding are taking other peoples' stuff and slapping it together into packs, has about as much authority to comment on the quality of this mod as a fish has to critique a bicycle.

People are way too harsh on modders who mods for fun
Spacemonkey May 3, 2023 @ 10:34pm
It's a nice mod. Don't listen to toxic haters

@Star∞ Well, it is the 2nd mod I've made as I'm learning more and more of rimworld modding so fledgling is quite expected lol. I do intend on continuing to update it as I figure out more of the quirks and as I get better at art

Though the part of your critique that caught my attention was the "general mismanagement of content." Care to elaborate on that? It may be something I can fix in a handful of updates or otherwise improve in future modding attempts

i personally find this interesting but dont care to add it due to 2 things, first is it's fledgling quality and general mismanagement of content, carbon can be made into batteries and advanced tiers of buildings/clothing yet that's all it reaches out to do? There's so many many things this mod could do yet it's heavily limited and that generally makes this mod more of a nuisance with some extra utilities, that seem like they have a purpose.
Second of all, the cropping of textures and ill invested quality of everything makes me question if there was actually any proper effort put towards the mod, its shameful, I question the author's reasoning for making this into such a malconceived addon not even, it's like a test demo or a demonstration, interesting concept but ultimately falls very short. Sorry not sorry. :cinnamon2:
