Easy Avatar Skins

Description
Easy avatar skin changer for Rogue: Genesia with a simple UI.

Choose a new skin pack for each avatar, or mix&match them to create a uniquely cursed combo.

##### HOW TO USE #####

To choose a skin, navigate to Options -> Mods Option -> Easy Avatar Skins and select it from dropdown list.

To use mix&match, enable it for the avatar you want and select which skin to pull which animation from. There are tooltips for which animation is used for what.

The mod should pick up skins you download from Steam Workshop automatically.

To create a new skin, navigate to mods folder, create a new folder there and add PNG files for the animations. Any missing files would be replaced by default animations for that particular avatar

You can put multiple skins within a single workshop mod. Just put them in their own subfolders, and they should be picked up (subfolder name becomes skin name).

Available folders for new skins are:
* Steam Workshop directory (something like c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\2067920\2966368775)
* Game directory (c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rogue Genesia\Modded\Mods\)

Once you create a folder for your new skin pack, any PNG file with valid name should be picked up by the mod automatically.

File format: `(animation type)_(X axis frames)_(Y axis frames).png`. Frame counts are integers. For a basic example, refer to Potato skinpack bundled with the mod.

Currently supported animation types:

* Icon - avatar icon on the avatar selection screen (not an actual animation, just 1 frame)
* Idle - idle animation in game, when you're not running
* IdleHD - idle animation on the avatar selection screen, plays on the background
* Run - running animation in game
* Victory - animation on victory (World Saved / successful completion screen)
* GameOver - animation on game over screen

If you want to upload your newly created skin to Steam Workshop, refer to the guide by Plexus: https://github.com/PlexusDuMenton/RogueGenesiaExampleMod/wiki/Mod-Creation#mod-file-settup.
You will need to add EasyAvatarSkins as a dependency ("HardDependencies": ["knelse.EasyAvatarSkins@0.3"]).

When Plexus added more skins for avatars (gold rog, etc), he changed the way things used to work. Instead of having to replace all models via code -- and having to make some UI -- you just add a new skin the same way game does for "default" ones, and it's supposed to work straight up.

I haven't looked into it much because I thought skin authors would eventually move to this new system :)

Mind telling us what that easier way is? Thank you.
I was sad to see that this mod doesn't work since I just got this game.

Hi! It was made for a much older version of the game (like 0.8-something iirc, or maybe 0.7-something) so it's somewhat expected. There's an easier way to have skins in game now (it no longer requires swapping all the assets for an avatar), so I don't think maintaining this one makes sense.

Let me know if skin creators don't update their mods for the current system, though, I'll see if I can figure something out :)

so for some reason, on current game version this mod just doesn't work, the game freezes and boots you out of the mods menu to main menu without turning it on, hence other skin mods dependant on it don't work either.

Sure. It's d:\gamesdir\\steamapps\workshop\content\2067920\2966368775 and then custom folder.

I hope this mod will be up and running again.

Sorry for delayed answer.

Quite likely. There's been a bunch of updates since I had time to work on it, and the game now supports avatar skins natively. I'll go back and see if it should even be up when I'm a bit more free

Seem like this mod is not working in the game current version anymore :alina_cry: . Or is it my own game problem

You're most welcome. Plexus (dev) is preparing an update that will introduce skins into the game without having to install mods, whenever that is ready anyway :)

Thanks for this. Seems like it opens up the world. I will experiment with it soon. This seems like one of the more easy-to-mod Horde games I've come across, graphically anyway. The only one that has a "Play modded" option at launch anyway.

it's all good, happens :) happy it worked!
