Columbia 2-4-2

The 2-4-2 (Columbia) Steam Locomotive was a common form of locomotive found between the mid 19th century to the early 20th century. The first of the tendered 2-4-2 locomotives saw action in New Zealand in 1877, and served until 1927 when she was dumped, then later restored to operation as of 1974. Not long after the adoption in New Zealand, similar locomotives, such as the Columbia, were adopted in the hundreds across both the United Kingdom and united States of America.

Controls are all located in the cabin, as well as the tender being detachable from the left of the connectors. To refill the water tank, open the front of the locomotive and pump water into the hose point provided.
