The name "Fifth Avenue" was chosen in honor of a street in New York City, New York State in the USA. It is home to many high-end shops and cultural attractions. For the first time, this name was used to modify the Chrysler New Yorker sedan. This generation of Chrysler, although it became slightly smaller than the record size of the generations of the 1970s, but it was still equipped with a V8 engine and rear-wheel drive. When ordering the New Yorker Fifth Avenue Edition, the buyer received a car in a two-tone beige design with a leather interior. There was a standard vinyl landau roof and several unusual opera windows that opened with the rear doors. The package was so completely color-coded that even the bumper friction strips were beige. This body was retained for three years, although additional colors for Fifth Avenue were added in 1980 and 1981. In 1980, the Fifth Avenue package was created at ASC (American Sunroof Corporation) for the Chrysler LeBaron, which shared the Chrysler M platform with the Dodge Diplomat. This rare option package, produced at 654 LeBarons during the year, included many of the exterior features found on New Yorker Fifth Avenue in a smaller, more prominent package.
