A Guide to using Place Everywhere.
Por GSVoyager
I've worked with Place Everywhere for quite a while now and have even written a few guides to introduce people to this great building utility in my Facebook groups. Hopefully this will help get you started.

Getting Started:
You'll also need F4SE (fallout 4 script extender) installed. This guide assumes that F4SE is installed correctly and you're booting through a shortcut you've created to the 'F4se_loader' and placed on your desktop or through your mod manager.

http://f4se.silverlock.org/

You can find Place Everywhere here on Nexus. Just download and install with your mod manager.

Overview:
Place Everywhere can be confusing at first and it took me a while to understand how everything works. It's not just for placing pieces wherever you want. It's so much more than that. And if you're into building some really cool stuff, it's the best tool for building in Fallout 4. There are no prompts or boxes that pop up to give you choices. You just need to know what to do and the reason why I wrote this guide.

Buried in the Fallout 4 game file folder (Fallout4/data/F4SE/Plugins), is the 'place_ini_help' file. This file includes all these commands I've included at the bottom and other helpful info. If you want to take a look at it, there it is.

I've also included this great chart that outlines the basic functions of the keypad. This says Place Anywhere at the top, but Place Everywhere and Place Anywhere are often confused (PE-pc and PA-xbox). The 'F4SE' reference is the giveaway that's only on PC.

So, enough of that, let's get on with it.

Before you can do anything with an object it must first be highlighted AFTER being placed.

After it's highlighted, the easiest way to manipulate it is to lock it in with the function key F7. Keep in mind that if you hit the wrong key (like 1/3 used for resizing) this will unlock your object and it will need to be reselected. After locking an object, you'll be able to move it with the NUMPAD (2,4,6,7,8,9). The "/" and "*" increment the movement (.01-100). Rotation is controlled by (- and +) for degrees (.01-90), CTRL changes the axis (x,y,z), and the keys "<" and ">" are used for precise rotation.

Quick note: All function keys are toggles. They're either on or off. You decide what you need and when you need it. For example, the very first thing I do is toggle the five second out-of-workshop timeout 'F5', to off because I can easily be in and out of the build area a lot.

After rotating an object you'll need to move it with the numpad as described above or it will rotate while moving. Also, something to note is that all objects don't rotate (or resize) the same and that's something that will take practice and experience. Also (page up/page down) increments the resize (1-50%).

I don't use any 'scrapping' mods because if you hit the 'Insert (INS)' key it toggles extra objects that you can highlight which include almost everything else. Notice I said 'almost'. There are certain objects that you may need to open the console and use the 'Disable' command followed by 'Markfordelete', but not many. Not something I normally worry about because I try to scrap as few pieces as possible. I like to build in and around everything because I believe it makes the build more interesting. Besides that, when you start breaking precombines your game will become more unstable and limit what can be built.

Place Everywhere will take some time and practice to learn, but after learning the basics, it's well worth it. With some practice and a bit of imagination, you'll never look at parts the same way again. Because with the resize, rotate, and place functions, you'll be able to create anything you can imagine. Also, the copy attributes '=' (of an object) and paste attributes '0' (of the same or different object), can be very helpful and produce amazing results too. Have fun!

There are more functions, but hopefully this will get you started. And definitely check the Numlock. Sometimes while building I'll accidentally shut it off and it can be confusing. The 'ALT' tab is another that changes from Player perspective to World perspective. It completely changes how the Numpad works. Read the place_ini_help file that comes with it for a more complete list of functions (most are included with the Hotkey list below).

Helpful hint: You can also copy all or just the Hotkeys listed below this. Then paste it into Notepad and save to your desktop for easy reference.

Another great tool that can be very helpful is the Clipboard Resurrection[www.nexusmods.com] mod on Nexus that allows you to select all or part of a structure and save, copy, paste, move, resize, or rotate on the 'Z' axis.

Special Note: If you enjoy building in Fallout 4 and are on Facebook, the best building groups I've found are the Fallout 4 Settlement Building[www.facebook.com] and Fallout 4: Commonwealth Creators[www.facebook.com] groups. They include some of the best builders in the Fallout community. They also include builders of all skill levels and can answer any questions you might have about mods, materials, or techniques used for building in Fallout 4.

Place Everywhere Hotkeys:
Special Note: To move/rotate/resize an object it must first be highlighted (outlined), NOT SELECTED.

PgUp - increase scale step (1-50%)(default-10%)
PgDown - decrease scale step
INS - toggle extra objects selection.
Alt - toggle between 'player view' and 'world view'.

Ctrl - change axis rotation (X,Y,Z).
(for precise rotation)(and yes, the mouse buttons can be used too, but they're not precise)
'<' Key, rotates highlighted object counterclockwise direction "left"
'>' Key, rotates highlighted object clockwise direction "right"

Backspace - undo last 10 precise movement/rotation/scaling action (default).
'=' - store outlined object position, rotation and scale info
'0' - set all stored info to outlined object (the zero, two buttons left of '=')

1,2,3 - set X,Y,Z position of stored info to outlined object
4,5,6 - set X,Y,Z rotation angles of stored info to outlined object
7 - set scale of stored info to outlined object
Examples.
Here are a few examples of what I've done. Let's see what you can do.

Had to squeeze this into a corner of Spectacle Island. Also using the mod Build High - Expanded Settlements 5.0, that gives you 200+ floors for height and expands the build area of all vanilla locations considerably.

I couldn't find a place in Fallout 4 for what I had in mind, so had to create everything here. Yes, everything, mountains, water, and all the details. Some objects can get so large, that you can only move them by locking them with F7 and moving them with your keypad or you'll crash the game by selecting them in the workshop. Located above the Forgotten Church in the glowing sea. I called it Abandoned Falls Station[www.nexusmods.com] and posted it to Nexus.

Had to use a Fallout Settlements Expanded room for this and a really great mod called Workshop Plus. It allows flying in build mode among other things.

This takes up all of Spectacle Island where I was learning more about the Hotchpotch mod. Or 'MDE2506's mostly colorful and modular hotchpotch and other stuff' on Nexus. Lots of pieces from Snappy Housekit too.
Spectacle 17. A Player Home.[www.nexusmods.com]

Here's one I built in Far Harbor and posted to Nexus called The View[www.nexusmods.com].

And finally, The East Point Oil Platform[www.nexusmods.com] that I recently renovated and posted to Nexus.

...and just in case you were wondering, everything I've built has been in game, not using the Creation Kit.

It's explained in the 'Overview' section and will take some practice.

It can also be rotated by using the mouse buttons, but it's not very precise. Hope this helps. :)

How do you put stuff on its side? Like for instance the tables and some of the chairs that's in sanctuary that's already on its side when you first start the game? I seen people do it, I just got some reason can't figure it out.

That's Great! Have fun.

Nah I figured it out
Fallout 4 script extender doesn’t work like Skyrim

You have to launch the game through the exe the script extender adds EVERY TIME or it doesn’t work

Skyrim script extender works even if you launch through steam

Also, if you believe Place Everywhere isn't installed correctly, go to the link I provided in the Getting Started section for Place Everywhere and review the installation process provided at the bottom of the page.

I don't know if your Place Everywhere is installed correctly, but as I noted in the instructions, before you can do anything with an object it must first be highlighted 'AFTER' being placed. While the object is highlighted it can then be locked in by pressing the 'F7' key and manipulated accordingly with the numpad. Food items, like Tatos, still need to be placed in dirt first, then they can be moved anywhere.

Not sure if you're new to PC, but anyone that's used Place Anywhere on Xbox might be confused by the PC version because they expect boxes to guide them. On PC there aren't any boxes and you just need to know what to do and the reason I wrote this guide. Hope this helps.

Also none of the numpad keys do anything

Idk if I messed up my instal or something but this mod only lets me place SOMETHINGS in SOME places.

Like the nuka cola vending machine still can't be placed right against a wall, but I can plant two tatos inside each other (as long as they're on dirt I can't place them in the air or on stone for some reason?)

Sorry Teldurn, but that's just how it works. You'll be able to select more objects than normal, but still only one at a time. If you use it along with Clipboard Resurrection you can select multiple pieces manually or select entire builds to copy into a Clipboard Resurrection pattern file. These in turn can be placed anywhere else including new saves.

I'm still struggling with selecting extra objects after enabling INS. Is there another button I need to hit to select additional objects? I only get one object highlighted at a time even after confirming that the option was active.
