Forehead Industries ML2A Hussar

The ML2A Hussar is a variant of the ML2 Dragoon adapted to serve in an assault/gunship rotorcraft role.

Consequently, the Hussar features a dual cockpit layout, with responsibilities divided between the gunner in the forward cockpit and pilot in the rear.



-The Pilot has access to the flight controls, as well as hardpoint mounted dumb rocket pods and active radar seeking missiles.

-The gunner has access to a light auto cannon in the chin mounted turret, with an ammunition feed system from the main hull. They can take over a limited set of flight controls in emergencies.



Additionally, the Hussar also retains a limited cargo and troop transport ability from the Dragoon hull, allowing it to insert troops and/or small pieces of equipment.

To start:
1. Sit in pilot's seat (rear cockpit)
2. Turn on master power (orange section, left front console)
3. Turn on engine power (orange section, left front console)
4. Turn on cabin nav lights for beacon as necessary (left hand armrest, flip switches)
5. Wait for engine indicator to turn solid green (orange section, left front console)
6. Throttle up to maximum (left hand armrest)
7. Taxi & takeoff using VTOL mode



To switch from VTOL mode to forward flight and vice versa, use throttle in right hand armrest

To shutdown engines:
-Turn off engine power (orange section, left front console)
-This will also lock rotor collective to -1, to prevent accidental takeoff

To turn craft completely off also do the following:
-Turn off master power (orange section, left front console)

Autopilot Guide:
-Set altitude hold (floor, left of yoke)
-Set GPS destination (floor, right of yoke)
-Enable altitude hold (centre console, flip switch to left of screen)
-Enable autopilot (centre console, flip switch to left of screen)

To enable auto-land, engage auto-land switch(floor, by left foot)

Flight Characteristics Information:
-Forward flight stall speed = 113 knots (58 m/s)
-Forward flight stall throttle < 0.36

Issues/WIP features:
-Fine-tune gimbal cam radar tracking for increased accuracy
-Add target GPS calculation for radar tracking, feed through to pos. hold
-Add relative rotation indicator to gimbal cam screen
-Increase auto-land speed to touchdown
-Add a pitch up function during transition to forward flight to prevent accidental nosing down into terrain at very low altitude
-Add ballistics compensation to chin turret
