Description
Update: I've been testing this shader in real time and by god, Xen, this is so much more than an Outlast reshade, Xen genuinely brought back the emotions I felt when first seeing it, incredible...

This mod attempts to make the coloring and shading of Black Mesa feel more like an early 2010s horror game on par with games like Outlast, Bioshock, or Dead Space.

However just like the story of Black Mesa itself, while trying to remake this shader I've realized there is so much more, the shader has made the game feel so much more lively and realistic with this shader.

There are 3 presets Available in this folder, two of them are standard shaders, the one called Black Mesa 2000s Flashlight Tied is the most unique, it is made with the idea in mind that pressing F will activate a CRT overlay as if Gordon is putting on his helmet to use the flashlight much like the mod made for Half Life 2.

This is meant to make the game slightly more balanced due to the lack of consequence for using the flashlight normally, now in doing so you are tunneling your vision which makes it only viable in areas that are meant to be pitch black like vents.

The two other shaders in this pack are versions of the shader with and without the CRT overlay permanently adjusted if you would just like to use one or the other for screenshots and videos like the ones provided.

This mod requires Reshade, the preferred version is 5.0.2 and for Marty McFly's ray tracing I would suggest Beta 0.17.0.2 as these both are the most optimized versions for Black Mesa

To find the shaders go to: steamapps\workshop\content\362890\2928608663

Make sure Anti Aliasing is at it's lowest setting or else depth based shaders will not work!

@lisakki reshade presets come pre packaged into a single txt file each time you make one, I just saved it to a folder accompanied by some instructions and basically just set the file directory to the installation folder to load them

I am also working on an updated version of this mod anyways that uses a lot more subtle glows and such to ease on the eyes

You will need a decent graphics card, currently I am running gtx 1660ti to use the shaders, also yes the ray tracing is paid, you don't need to pay monthly only once to access the files and unfortunately for legal reasons I could not include the necessary files for McFly shaders so it will need to be sourced from the patreon. In order to change the glow you have to change some of the parameters in reshade's menu, this can be accessed by pressing the HOME key.

of course it's a stupid paid access patreon thing.
