> do i replace??
Yes you do.
btw, my solution to fixing my problem was to manually go into the game's created directory and remove the copied files that relate to the mod. So I had to go into /SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid/projectzomboid/media/lua/client/BetterCarPhysics/ and remove the directory.
1. Replace the files in the destrination
2. Skip these files
3. Let me decide for each file
do i replace??
Also, does your mod affect fuel consumption, even if indirectly? I thought I noticed a big decrease in the distance I can travel on a single tank, to the point I decreased fuel consumption to 0.75.
My question is: Is there a way to edit gear ratios? As far as I understood - those numbers in vehicle file are garbage. Maybe add a custom RPM type for modded heavy vehicles with much shorter gears. A bus, or an APC shouldn't do 50mph at 1st gear, they'd go 20 top, but with lots of torque.
- 1st gear goes from 0 to 50mph, no matter what HP you have. If engine power is too low and max speed will be below 50, then 1st gear is the only usable gear.
- 4th gear is useless, unless the vehicle runs like a sportcar and gets to 120mph at the end (250+ hp at 1100 weight), 4th gear just can't go past what 3rd got you to. [tbc]
Gears in Vanilla do work. That's why I went to search for a gearshift mod today. I don't think anyone would notice that on the road, but offroad vanilla gears do work, and automatic transmission becomes a problem :)
I had to set CC to 20mph, even thougt the vehicle is capable of going 25+, because it shifts to 2nd and starting to lose power and slows down. If you manage to get offroad while on 3rd gear it's even more obvious.
Anyway, it's a bit offtopic. Gotcha - no manual gearbox without patch. I'll try to live with excess power for now.
