School's Out: Anime-Style Student Uniforms

Description
You hear a bell ring. Is that for fourth period...or are you dinner?

School's Out is a clothing/item mod that adds Japanese school uniforms to Project Zomboid. These can be worn, seen on student zombies, and found throughout the map.

School Uniform Components:
  • 2-Button School Blazer (2 types, 4 colors)
  • 3-Button School Blazer (2 types, 4 colors)
  • Short-Sleeved Sailor Suit (3 colors)
  • Long-Sleeved Sailor Suit (3 colors)
  • School Sweater (5 colors)
  • School Sweater Vest (5 colors)
  • Short-Sleeved School Shirt
  • Long-Sleeved School Shirt
  • School Skirt (2 colors)
  • Long School Skirt (2 colors)
  • Triangle Tie (3 types, each w/ 6 colors)
  • Ribbon Tie (6 colors)
  • Single Ribbon Tie (6 colors)
  • String Tie (6 colors)
  • School Necktie (6 colors)
  • School Swimsuit (4 types, each w/ 2 colors)
  • Competition Swimsuit (3 colors)
  • Rashguard
  • Gym Shirt (2 colors)
  • Gym Bloomers (2 colors)
  • School Sport Shorts (2 colors)
  • School Tracksuit Top (2 colors)
  • School Tracksuit Bottom (2 colors)
  • Polo Shirt (6 colors)
  • Sleeveless Polo Shirt (6 colors)
  • Tennis Skirt
  • Over-the-Knee Socks (2 colors)
  • Knee-High Socks (2 colors)
  • Crew Socks (3 "colors")
  • Loafers
  • Uwabaki (4 colors)

The mod also makes standalone several pieces from NyanCat's "I WANNA BE CUTE" retexture:
  • Cute Blazer
  • Cute "Neko" Sweatshirt
  • Cute "Neko" Face Mask (2 types)
  • Cute "Neko" Stockings (4 types)
  • Cute Collar (3 types)
  • Gura's Poncho

Most items have multiple styles / wear options (e.g., shortening a skirt or unbuttoning a blazer).

All items come with custom, vanilla-style pixel art icons and realistic, balanced stats.

NyanCat's anime-style body retextures are included as with School's Out as an optional add-on. Use the included skins, or only keep the clothes and play instead with your preferred body pack.

All clothing/items have been knit sensibly into the zombie spawn and loot distribution systems. Of course, you'll find the Knox Country schools full of appropriately-dressed schoolgirls, but if you're looking to pick up a new uniform without killing your classmates, you can drop by the clothing store or rifle through closets to find a spare. (You might find them in other places, too.)

NyanCat's cute items will also appear in the world, albeit much less frequently. You may have to steal a neko sweatshirt off that girl from third period. It's okay; she doesn't need it anymore.

Live your end-of-school-days just the way you like with customizable sandbox settings!

Use the Gender Ratio setting to set the ratio of male to female student zombies in schools: fulfill your zombie harem fantasies, or play tsundere and beat your way through hordes of boys. Choose between Uniform Styles, whether you prefer blazer-style uniforms, sailor suits, or both; customize even more using the Blazer, Sailor, Sweater, Bottom, and Tie Color and Style options. Use the Swimsuit Styles option to choose between classic "old style" or "new style" swimsuits, or swap blue sukumizu for White Swimsuits and enjoy the fanservice iconic fan-favorite colors!

By default, the School's Out zombies will replace vanilla student zombies in schools. However, the Exchange Students option lets you spawn School's Out zombies alongside vanilla students; toggling Dress Code Enforced will disable them entirely (if you only want uniforms for yourself). You can also use the Truancy Rate option to spawn students more frequently outside of school.

Finally, if you feel like School's Out items are appearing too frequently (or not enough) you can use the Spawn Chance Modifier to tilt the odds to your liking.

We're a long way from graduation! Some features you can expect to see in upcoming releases (in no particular order):
  • New clothes, items, and variants
  • Profession/Trait system integration ("Student" Profession, custom Traits, etc.)
  • Relevant anime-specific costumes (Gakkou Gurashi, Highschool of the Dead, etc.)
  • Custom 3D models

Huge Thanks to NyanCat, Whose Retexture Inspired This Mod!
Go give 'em some points, or nice comments or something!

Disclaimers
This is my first Zomboid mod, and while not my first rodeo, I don't guarantee everything is WAD. Even if it does, things may break suddenly when I tweak/add features. Back up your saves, etc.!

I have tested this mod alongside many popular mods without any issues and tried to follow best modding practices, but I cannot guarantee compatibility and take no responsibility for problems.

All textures, icons, and promotional images were made by me, except when indicated otherwise.

Some screenshots were made using Mystic's Face Retexture.

@Karuma, they're definitely only tied to the base pack, but if you ever loaded the save with the BODIES submod enabled then loading the save will load the submod even if you deactivate it in the main menu. To fix this you need to go to Load, select your save and go to More (in the bottom right), then Choose Mods and deactivate the BODIES submod.

the eyes seem to be tied to the base pack and have forced my 1 month character to have them and i cant change them back

@ProMemer420, yeah, I don't really disagree. I'm not a huge fan of the default NyanCat skins either, but I ported them over as-designed in the interest of remaining faithful to the source (since the original intention for this mod waaaaay back at the very beginning was just to make the NyanCat stuff standalone). There's a reason I made them an optional add-on so people can use their own skins.

I've actually made a Photoshop template with the faces split off and a few different base body textures so people can mix-and-match their desired faces with the desired skintones. When I have time, I'll probably toss that into the next update as an extra file for those who'd like to customize.

The fuckin eyes are tied to skin color. If you wanna play someone who's white and not yellow then you'll end up with the anime eyes. How ANYONE thought that would look good at that resolution is beyond me. Absolutely a dealbreaker. Which kinda sucks cos the skin tone is nice.

is there a way to only have the pure white eyes instead of the giant anime ones?

@Pygmalion I don't know how, but having already done it before- in classic IT fashion, now that you've said to put them at the bottom of the order it works. The only thing that's changed is that I took Anthro out of the order and put it at the bottom as well, just above [BODIES] and [MAIN] in that order. It's all good now though, so thanks for suggesting it or I don't know if I'd have done it again.

@Maroi potentially stupid question, but have you tried putting them at the bottom of the load order, so they load last? Somewhat paradoxically, this will make sure that they override anything else. If there's still an issue it might well be the anthro mod.

米クさん, thanks for the feedback. This is certainly unusual. On my own game I've turned it down not nearly that far and it seems not too bad, but perhaps there is an error for extremely low / zero values. I'll look into either fixing the problem or just creating a toggle that fully disables item spawns.

Great mod, thank you for all you've done, but I'm encountering an issue where even though I've set the spawn rate to 0.00000000001(0*300), I'm still seeing a significant amount of school uniforms spawning indoors on almost unofficial maps.

Trying to start a multiplayer to local host. I don't have any other mods that replace the character skins, save for maybe the Anthro Mod. However, even after putting both parts of this mod at the top of the load order, the body replacer is only effecting the first and fourth skin colors. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
