Play as the Islamic invader of India, Muhammad ibn al-Qasim al-Thaqafi; in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.

Sindh refers to the Indus River in the Persian language, it is from this term that the Arab conquerors divided the east between "Sind" and "Hind" or that which is before the Indus River and the all land beyond identifying as India. Before the Arabs crossed the Indus, the region was inhabited by Buddhists and Brahmins that quarreled over the right to rule, the Muslims settled that debate by inserting Emirates under the Umayyad Caliphate; all would pay jizya according to school of thought when established. Internally Sindh would be ruled by Islamic jurisprudence, gradually the population would convert to Sunni with some Ismailis migrating into the Indus. Sindh would prosper as a major trading port, the desire of Balochs, Mughals, the Portuguese, and the British. According Muhammad Ali Jinnah Sindh's legacy is as "the Gates of Islam" to India.

FEATURES
  • Requires: RISE AND FALL and GATHERING STORM

    LEADER: MUHAMMAD IBN AL-QASIM (SINDH, ARABIA, AND INDIA)
  • Trait - Gateway of Islam: Conquering a city grants a permanent +3 Great Prophet points per turn and a burst of 200 Faith (on Standard Speed). Conquered cities gain +1 Amenity. Defeating enemy land units will spread the majority religion. Gain the Sayfyman unique unit.
  • Agenda - Caliphal Province of Sindh: Likes civilizations that follow his religion. Dislikes civilizations that do not follow his religion.

    LEADER UNIT: SAYFYMAN
  • Sindhi, Arabic, and Indian unique Classical era Anti-Cavalry class unit that replaces the Spearman when Muhammad ibn al-Qasim is the leader. +5 Combat Strength against Melee class units if created in a city with a Barracks. +5 Combat Strength against Cavalry class units if created in a city with a Stables. +1 Sight if created in a city with a Lighthouse. Defeating an enemy unit grants Culture equal to 50% of its Combat Strength if created in a city with a Market or Ajrak Weaver. Defeating an enemy unit grants Faith equal to 50% of its Combat Strength if created in a city with a Shrine.

    CIVILIZATION: SINDH
  • Trait - Beyond the Indus: Build Encampments in their buildings in half the time. Encampments gain +2 Culture, Production, and Faith if adjacent to a river.
  • Alt Names - Sindhu-Sauvira, Habbarids, Soomras, Sammas, Arghunids, Kalhorids, Talpurids, and Arabo-India.
  • Spawn Bias - Jungle/Plains Floodplains/Desert Floodplains/Rivers (Tier 1), Grassland Floodplains (Tier 2), Marsh (Tier 3).

    CIVILIZATION UNIT: BAWARIJ
  • Sindhi unique Ancient era Naval Melee class unit that replaces the Galley. Higher sight. Can Coastal Raid if within 3 tiles of a Commercial Hub, Holy Site, or Harbour.

    CIVILIZATION BUILDING: AJRAK WEAVER
  • A building unique to Sindh that replaces the Market. +5 Gold. +2 Great Merchant points per turn. Commercial Hub gains Culture equal to its Gold adjacency. Gain Trade Route capacity, doubled if the city has a Harbour.
