DESCRIPTION
---------------------------------

Commanders of XCOM, I give you another new mod: Nier:Shells.

This mod adds in detail:

  • 13 SHELL MAPS in its originality from NieR:Automata and NieR:Replicant ver.1.22… here in XCOM 2 and are COOKED!
  • Songs from the games and other forms of media are included in the shell mod and are randomized each time you load into the shells!
  • Multiple troops can be in there, rather than just one! And they also have custom animations.
  • Some shells offer new varieties each time you load it up (new placement spots for your troops for example)! Experiment and have a look!
  • Customizable settings – you can enable/disable certain maps or even add more parameters to make them shown to specific areas of the map (ex. Wilderness, Tundra, etc.) to your heart’s content!
  • Some maps allow multiple camera angles! Why not sit and watch a bit? You might get to see more of the map – and maybe more of your troops too.
  • Some shells have character pools within the shell, not in the Armory!

RECOMMENDED MODS

KNOWN ISSUES
Map modding isn’t my strong suit, so please bear with me on this.
----------------
* For those that do NOT like custom music, unfortunately there is no way to disable it (unless you turn off the in-game music in the settings).

* Some songs do not loop properly. One of them being the songs in the Castle shell. I’ll update it eventually.

* These shells do NOT have compatibility with custom alien races (I know some of you use Allies Unknown) due to some custom animations. No I will not update it to make them compatible. Ask the mod author to make it compatible.

* More troops in the shell = more likely one of your soldiers will be squids (remember that bug? LOL). Please remember to install Mushashi’s “Squid Be Gone!” mod (NOTE: This is only a band-aid solution. Please check with the mod author of the armor the squid is wearing in question and pester them to fix it).

* There may be a chance that your weapons may float. I gave up on this and have no idea how to fix this. I apologize in advance but until I get this solution, the issue may happen. Although I notice this doesn’t always happen also. Results may vary.

* If you do not have enough troopers to fill the shell, they may either be filled by recruits or Reapers. Keep that in mind.

* City Ruins and YoRHa Bunker have been disabled by default due to the sheer size of the map. These shells are NOT recommended if you do not have a beefy PC. To enable go to the XComContent.ini file and remove the ";" to enable

Thanks! Enjoy! Feedback is welcome (good and/or bad)! And don't forget to give it a thumbs-up!

FAQ TIME:

Q1) What are shells?

Just another fancy word for "main menus". They are technically maps that show when you first boot up the game and see your favorite trooper in there. This mod expands more shells in your game.

It's also another bunch of lovely objects that are usually found on the beach. Neat stuff, you know?

Q2) WHY IS IT SO BIG!?
Trust me when I say this is the best I can do for cooking. The reason why it is so big is a multitude of reasons, biggest one being, well, the meshes and textures. There’s LOTS of em when making these worlds. Oh and did I mention about animations too?
It’s ~10 GB if uncooked lol.

Q2) Can you port to Vanilla?

Nope. I am NOT going to port anymore mods to Vanilla. It's a pain to convert it to Vanilla (even switching it back to it when I have mods for WotC is troubling enough for me).

If you want to do it then by all means go for it. Don't forget to give credit for the original mod.

Q3) Donations?

Aero doesn’t need money for suffering.

Q4) Is this compatible with other shell mods?

You bet.

Q5) This isn't all of the iconic maps. Please tell me you'll add more?!

That I may have to coordinate on Accord. It's on her, not me. Also, making maps is hard.

Got anymore questions? Put in the comments below if you wish. Anyways, ENJOY THE MOD GUYS!

+ Firaxis and 2K for this wonderful game as well as giving the community this SDK to further expand XCOM's capabilities

+ SQUARE ENIX and Yoko Taro senpai for NieR:Automata and NieR:Replicant as well as NieR:Gestalt. My mind is as broken as he is.

+ Mixamo for additional animations.

+ Rokoko for retargeting for Blender.

+ E3245 for the script work on having multiple troops and stopping the game soundtrack in the main menu. Seriously, this mod wouldn’t be possible without your help for little ol’ me. You deserve free headpats from me. <3

+ My other lovely peeps – you know who you are – for dealing with my eagerness in the mod and giving me your lovely pointers and feedback. Love you guys.

+ You, Commander. For your feedback and taking the opportunity to get one of the most iconic maps into XCOM. Your depressing efforts will continue to bolster the Resistance across the globe. Keep up the great work, and good luck Commander. o7

Sometimes the main screen generated by the mod is displayed and sometimes it is not. Is there a way to display only this mod screen?

@A. A. Ginting No worries. Admittedly, at the time I was making the mod, I forgot about those that use the Music Modding System. So there may not be any compatibility for it, I think. There are talks about trying to integrate MMS with some of my shells but thats really it.

I am scared to asked, but the Shell music seems to be clashing with the menu music when using other Music mods (Nier music being one of them) is there anyway to hear only the shell music? Thanks in advance!

@SuperDigga Ty for the feedback. This is merely for fun; I dont expect people to download and keep somethin as big as this. Had these maps been used for tactical missions that would be awesome. But thats beyond me -- besides these maps werent meant for a grid like like xcom anyway lol.

Flooded City and a few others matched XCOM style, but unfortunately file is 2,04 GB so i wont keep it. Im afraid it will slow down the play.

Anyway thanks for the lovely screenshots i took of your mod

@Tech-Priest That is beyond me I am afraid. Besides the Nier maps werent exactly meant to have a grid like style like what xcom does. Converting such a map like niers to xcom is waaaay beyond my expertise :conwayheadscratch:

And here I was hopping this added new maps, well thanks for your work. Bummer...

These would be so cool if they were also playable maps ^^

@Meyers07 Glad you like em :Emil:

Making the maps as part of the missions is waaay beyond my expertise I'm afraid. But it would be awesome. Having shades as lost monsters would be cool, I do not know how to do that either though

Request: Can you make some of them available operation/mission maps?
So that the 2gb doesn't go to waste just for a randomized title screen. Loved them though and i expect a Shade-tinted Lost or (in Skyrim and Fallout) monsters.
