Type V2-ME-A1 US Tug (1:1) WWII

Description
The Type V2-ME-A1 yard tug was originally produced for the US Navy and Army by a large multitude of shipbuilding companies in 1942. Commonly it was used for its intended use, being a general purpose steel hull yard tug with around 1000 horsepower. These tugs were also used by the US army as Transport Service vessels in order to aid with WWIIs ever growing logistical needs. These tugs were rather basic in nature, however played a rather large role in the naval world, towing and shunting around much larger vessels in port as well as servicing offshore installations. As in typical US fashion, and despite the role of these tugs spending most of their lives assigned to a single port, most V class tugs were assigned two 50 caliber M2 Browning machine guns for any possible defencive use. These guns also aided in the versatility that the US Army desired to have for logistical missions. For instance, some type V tugs were sent all over the world in WWII, being used to help build ports in Normandy and other hastily built ports, as well as run supplies around in the infamous D-Day invasion. Its no doubt that these tugs have more history than meets the eye, and played an extraordinarily important role in WWII. Unfortunately most were scrapped by the 70, and only a few examples survive today.

I have built this tug to its real life 1-1 scale, as well as tried my hardest to replicate it as accurately as possible to its real life counterpart. Unfortunately this tug is a bit underwhelming inside compared to my USS R20, however after hundreds of hours of research I was unable to find documentation of the various rooms inside of the ship. I attempted the best I could with the resources I was able to dig up to recreate it as I found fit from description.

Features:
Fully 1-1 Scale
1942 design
Fully functioning davit boat
Medical and repair supplies
2x 50 caliber M2 Browning Machine guns
Multiple tow points and winch
Highly detailed to knowledge of the ship
Extremely effective for stormworks missions
Fully functioning ballast control

Basic operation of the ship:
To get moving, first go to the main room right under the bridge of the ship, flip all 3 pump switches, then turn the key in order to start the engine. Next, enter the bridge and flip the clutch on in order to allow the ship to start moving, then use the throttle to adjust your speed, and the reverser under the clutch in order to reverse.

Towing:
To tow, make sure you have sufficient weight in the For’d ballast hold for whatever you may be hauling, then hook up the cargo to the wench and proceed slowly. If the Aft of the ship begins to dip, add more water. If the For,d tank is full, then give the tow rope more slack in order to distribute the weight through a longer distance. The only reason you would have to add water to the Aft ballast is during pushing.

Note: Never let the tow rope go over the red line on the deck, or the ship will capsize.

Pushing:
To push, fill the For’d ballast until the ship is level, and add ample Aft ballast in order to be sure the ship has enough weight to push what you desire. Weight distribution is key when pushing other ships along.

Davit Boat:
To deploy the davit, all you must do is unlock the davit key, and the whole process is automated for you. All you must do to launch it is un do the rope when in the water. To pull the boat back up, re attach the ropes, press the winch up button, then turn the key off. Once the Boat is back up, press the return position button to return it to its normal sliding position.

Finally, agan it took a lot of research to build this, and I was only able to build it off of veig descriptions and external pictures. I hope you enjoy this versatile and historical yet good looking tug! -Gabe
