Description
Standalone version of a beautiful map script

This map scripts introduces FOUR unique landscapes: Fractal, Snakey, Middle East and Middle Kingdom, each can be combined with Map Only (which disabled advanced map features like prebuilt hamlets), 5 terrain variations, and 4 custom tribal placement modes, to offer 120 unique map types in one script.

** Inland Sea mode:
This model offers a unpredictable topology; expect a sizeable ocean and a few (potentially interconnected) lakes and seas, with 1-3 continents and scattered islands. There will be plenty of chokepoints and has high potential for naval warfare.

** Snaky mode:
Fractal mode with more noise and skinny channels. Expect smaller landmasses, snakier continents, with seas interwoven and an interesting and chellenging time for expansion.

** China mode:
A coastal basin cradled by large, overflowing rivers with a coastline to the East and South. A few fierce Northern Tribes rule the vast wastelands, and hordes of barbarians descent from the Himalayas from to the West in great numbers. Ancient ruins embed deep within mountains, through which ancient mountain paths lie. Scattered fishermen near the coast have established hamlets, waiting to be absorbed and potected by nearby empires. Will you be able to rule the known Old World, or will your armies be stopped by the many natural obstacles stand in your way? Topology inspired by that of China.

** Middle East Mode
Centered around Modern day Iraq, this map represents the topology and geography of Middle East, spanning from Chad to the SW, Greece Northwest, all the way past modern day Iran.

The great rivers and long mountain chains create many defensible positions and choke points, letting players take full advantage of the geography they are near. My military-focused mod Dynamic Units (https://oldworld.mod.io/diverse-units1) has a number of changes specifically made with the varied geography in mind, such as the added Transport unit which is amphibious and serve as a valuable (but vulnerable) mobile bridge for cross-river military operations.

Some players prefer, for some reason, really old versions of the mod. I left the support files for backward compatibility for them...but yeah, it's been a while now I will likely remove the support files from the mod list soon

Since the support files are not required anymore, maybe you could remove the workshop dependency?

I recommend starting a dozen games with Fog of war off to look at "example" maps the different combinations of settings produce, and then start a game with your favorite combo. They are all extremely gorgeous with interesting edge-of-world chaos, dramatic terrain and a balance of open lands and narrow passages, so it's a matter of personal preference on what type of game you want to play next!

Depends heavily on what your machine can handle. The map script works well with the recommended settings (in terms of number of player for each map size) for all three shapes; but if you use any terrain variation other than standard, I'd leave "one player" worth of space blank (meaning if the game recommends a map size is for 5 players, you only have 3 AI opponents), especially for Dry. Dry maps can be quite harsh

Harry what size of map and number of opponents do you recommend for your China map ?

Hey EmpyrealXu, the bug where rerolling will turn oceans into lakes has been fixed. You may now reroll all day long! Tribal settings and new shapes have also been added, enjoy :)

Understand.I will pay attention on this.
Thank you !!! Love this MOD.

each time you reroll a map seed (without recreating the game itself), there's a chance for a body of water to become a lake when it should be a sea. So if you reroll 10 times, you are basically guaranteed for all bodies to be lakes.

this happens when you reroll map (use the regenerate map option). Is this what happened? If you want to regenerate a map, you have to quit to menu and start a new SP game again (sorry)
