Description
Introduction

Have you ever wondered why your Dragonlord just seems to appear in the ranks of enemies without any effect upon transforming? Well, worry not! Never again will your Dragonlord enter combat unnoticed with their new awesome superhero landing.

Content
  • Adds Vortex/Explosions upon using Transformation of the Dragon for both Legendary Lords of Grand Cathay, Miao Ying and Zhao Ming. Features 4 different abilities, 2 per Lord, depending on whether they transform into human or dragon form.
  • Abilties are meant to be theme-fitting and feel as close to vanilla gameplay as possible, with believeable and balanced powerlevel.
  • It's main goal is to add some visual and explosive spice to the transformations; and create space for when the Dragonlords enter their more vulnerable human forms. It will knock back most small units but will, most likely, not knock away larger entities.
  • I tried to fit the frames as close as possible, so they fit with the animation of the transformation.
  • Go here for the Explosive Entrance - Celestial Edition with some friendly fire, slighty lower cooldown and more effects.


  • No friendly fire, no allied ragdolls.
  • less flashy, less explosion
  • similar damage levels compared to celestial
  • more focus on enhancing vanilla experience, compared to Celestial Edition
  • Cooldown is 120 (not 90 like other other version)
  • honestly, this is just my old version of the mod. I didn't want to mess up peoples campaigns by changing around their abilties. So instead of updating this, I uploaded another version.

Balance/Motivation
  • I tried to make it not op and in line with vanilla values and lower. Transformation of the Dragon -cooldown is still 120 seconds.
  • I want to encourage and reward players to regulary switching forms between dragon and human.
  • This mod adds no new talents or buttons. Everything is inside the 1 button that is already there in the vanilla game.
  • I wanted it to feel like you are not using a mod at all.
  • This ability has no friendly fire.


Compatability
  • savegame compatible
  • also compatible with all mods that don't change the 4 entries of human-dragon transformation of Miao and Zhao Ying in the 'unit_special_abilities_tables'. Overwrites should, in almost all cases, not cause crashes.
  • Radious should be compatible
  • SFO? No clue, as I haven't tried it yet since it's not updated for Immortal empires.
  • as this is my first mod there are bound to be some issues however.


Story

Miao Ying, the Storm Dragon:

When Miao Ying transforms into her most yearned and true dragonform, she first shows her enemies the Power of Yin, and let's them see its might with a powerful explosion which leaves them dazzled. Then, they can use their last moments of their lifes to stare in awe at the supreme Storm Dragon above.

Sometimes even a Celestial Dragon has to communicate with puny mortals by looking them into their tiny eyes on a somewhat... even level. Well, Miao Ying usually enters her human form accompanied by a forcefull storm to create some space for her to straighten her hair. A girl needs to have a little time to prepare first, right?

Zhao Ming, the Iron Dragon:

Before Zhao Ming transforms into the mighty Iron Dragon, he usually first creates a fiery fountain with alchemical compounds which leaves the puny mortals below very flammable... and he loves to follow it up with his most favourite Yang Dragon's Breath. Ahaha! Hear them wail in fiery agony.

Looking down at the demonhordes on the earth below, Zhao Ming thought, "what if I transformed myself into human form, while in the air, but make myself out of the heaviest of metals, adamite? Hmm, let's find out..." BOOOOM! The demons lay scattered, broken and torn after a metorite - human?! - just hit the ground with an impact that seemed to shake the world itself.


Known issues
  • Kills/damage scored with this ability does not count towards statistics (no clue why, however it's no real issue)
  • Explosion is always cast where the ability was cast initially, meaning if your hero makes an attack animation or gets knocked around during the 5 second transformation wind-up, the explosion will get cast at the original position. (no way to fix this as far as I know)
