Techies 7.31+ (4 position useful Techies)
By Michael
Your Primary job as Techies is to be an anti-carry/secure farm for your position 3.

This is a very straight up guide. No real cheese factor as in previous patches. DotA is becoming a more streamlined game every patch in my opinion.

Techies is a completely different hero. Before in previous patches and iterations of Techies you could really 1v5 the enemy team, control Roshan, and be an autoattack carry in the lategame. This is not the case anymore. You are a teamfight monster with your shard and your blast off. Blast off is arguably your strongest skill in DotA 2 at the moment.

Your early game should consist of buying a ring of protection, rallying your team on the microphone to go smoke and get first blood in the enemy jungle.

Once you have secured first blood and the early game for your team, the laning phase should consist of harassing the enemy carry with sticky bombs, and using blast off to kill supports and the carry. Also stacking the enemy jungle and dewarding any enemy wards.

Some key early game items for you are going to be Tanquil Boots, Soul ring, Wand, Raindrops, and Urn of Shadows.

At 15 minutes you should aim to buy your Aghanims Shard. This enables a 1.75 second stun on your blast off, which is an amazing utility to your team in teamfights.

The skill behind using your second spell (Reactive Tazer) is vast. You can use it while chasing an enemy hero, using your blast off, and then using the secondary part of the spell to disable that hero again. You can use it before an initiation, timing the channel to do an aoe silence stun and disarm, making you one of the best position 4 teamfighters in the game, and arguably one of the best highground position 4's in the game bar Pheonix.

Mid game you have a few different options with my understanding Aether lens is core. Kaya and Spirit Vessel are also very important, but will come past the 20 minute marker typically. Old items such as Euls are far less useful now. Force staff and Aghanims are extremely useful for your team post patch. The only important factor to consider is item cost and how long it will take to secure these items for your team.

Late game you have a lot of options, in my opinion Octarine Core is the best (or most commonly needed) late game item for position 4 Techies. It builds off of your Aether Lens, allows you to spam mines more rapidly, gives you good stats and regen, and is far more effective than say, a blood stone late game. Hex is still your best friend late game, the issue is building it as a position 4 you'll likely have less gold than your allies and you don't want to get flamed for stealing farm. Your position 3 is your priority and items like forcestaff, glimmercape, aghanims and hex are going to be more useful than an item like windwaker for exmample.

I hope you all are enjoying the new Techies as much as I have been. If you have any suggestions for this guide feel free to comment down below. These are my thoughts and I will be practicing mostly on Europe to try to improve at the game and practice some language skills.
