How to: Farm Cavelings

Simple way to farm Cavelings for their loot + experience.

Cavelings Farm

I was looking for a guide to farm Cavelings efficiently but couldn't find one, so I had to do my own tests and here are the results.

If you ever tried to contain Cavelings in a room you may have noticed that it's not that easy, because the basic Caveling is able to carve through walls when it attacks...

What Cavelings cannot do though, is jumping over a 1 tile hole:


So here is how I farm them: surtound the flowers that spawn them with a hole, shoot them from a distance with a ranged weapon, build a temporary bridge to go get the loot, don't forget to break the bridge before you leave ;)

Note that this can obiously be applied to any other enemy that have a spawner tile[core-keeper.fandom.com], but for more basic enemies you can just contain them with some walls and a door.

Yep, it depends if you want to farm them for the XP or only for loot ^^ If all you care about is loot then there is a lot more advanced automated farms to automatically kill and store all the loot for you ;)

Put spike traps or acid across the area. That way they kill themselves.

Good point, I should make my moat bigger to avoid that. :)

@rparham685: No real size limit, but enemy spawn will be reduced based on enemies already in the area, and on chunk size, if you are looking for large farms maybe go check some more advanced guides ;)
Flooding + leaving a boat always in the water between could be an option, I never tried ^^ I'm worried the boat may put you back on the side where you entered it though...

Is there a size limit for the farm?
Also, another option, flood the pit with water, and cross over with a boat, maybe?

@KillerKiwi: Well you can do that if you don't care about the xp for killing them yourself :)

why not put some spike traps in, so they will be killed even without u being there?

I can confirm the Lush Moss spawns snipers and farmers as intended :)

@bulvat - Yeah. "Lush Moss" found in newly explored bits of wilderness. "Urban Moss" the equivalent in the Sea biome.
