You're Fired

Description

Are your businesses complaining about having "not enough educated workers", while hordes of unemployed graduates roam the streets?

Then this mod is for you!

What the mod does
The mod allows businesses (commercial/industrial/office buildings) to fire workers who are below the required education level, to free up workplaces for new employees with the desired education.

The issue it solves
When a building levels up, its staff education requirements increase. However, it keeps all of its original staff, and is prevented from ever firing any of them.

Now, if you are running an unmodded game, this may not be an issue, because the overall number of workplaces also increases when the building levels up.

However, if you are using a mod such as Realistic Population, the overall number of workplaces may not increase. For "historical" buildings, it will stay the same, for other buildings it may in fact decrease (if the new building is physically smaller than the one it replaced!). This may lead to severe under-education of the staff, and eventual demise of the business.

Example
Suppose a new level 1 shop pops up. It needs 4 uneducated workers. It hires them. It prospers. It levels up. It now needs 1 uneducated worker and 3 educated ones. It still has the 4 original, uneducated workers. They won't get any more educated (they are busy working!). They can't be fired! No one knows how to use that new credit-card-thingy (it needs basic education!). "Not enough educated workers" the shop complains! The shop goes bust...

With this mod
Suppose a new level 1 shop pops up. It needs 4 uneducated workers. It hires them. It prospers. It levels up. It now needs 1 uneducated worker and 3 educated ones. It fires 3 of the 4 uneducated workers, and advertises 3 new job openings (basic education required!). It finds those new workers (hopefully). It prospers again!

Compatibility
No known incompatibilities.

The mod is very self-contained, so unlikely to cause any conflicts with other mods unless they also tinker with employment.

The mod does not modify save files, and can be subscribed/unsubscribed at any time. Obviously, the fired workers won't be un-fired.

Hope it can be my saver. My level 3 commercials have no highly educated workers while farms have tons of highly educated workers. :steamfacepalm:

Forget my last comment I just deleted it; I was getting You're Fired and Employ Overeducated Workers mixed up.
You're Fired absolutely still works and I currently use it.
Employ Overeducated Workers is the one that was basically rolled into the base game.

Does anyone know if this is safe to use for the current patch? If not, is there an alternative? This is a fantastic mod.

Can anyone confirm if this is working? I have had this installed in my city "for one year" and I still have places with 11 overeducated workers while others have not enough educated workers. I see it as a mod in the main menu but I dont see it as a mod or options when loaded into a game...
