SS Northemtona

Description
The SS Northemtona, yet another ship operated by the Smakkacow River & Ocean Line, was built from 1907-1910 by the best designers, iron works, and shipyards that the line could afford from the profits of the SS Novaskotia, and they did deliver. The ship had a better shaped hull that its predecessors that not only provided infinitely more stability, but also looked much better. It had some good and reliable triple expansion steam engines that propelled the ship up to 8 knots. The line never could get their ships to run fast.
The ship enjoyed about 4 years of passenger service before WW1, where it was requisitioned by the U.S. and converted into a troop ship. It served pretty well in this role, transporting many soldiers from the East coast to the battlefields of Europe. It hit a mine in 1916 while travelling to the battle of Verdun, but with the help of its watertight doors and bilge pumps, the ship limped its way back to Southampton where the British helped repair the ship.
After WW1, the Northemtona served many passengers crossing the Atlantic until 1939 when the ship became too expensive to operate. It was scrapped in England. A much better way to end up than being sunk by the Germans in WW2, which started just a few months later.

DON'T SHOOT THE LIFEBOATS WHEN THEY ARE ONBOARD

This is not only my first steam powered ship, but also the first one whose hull was made in Blender. It is so much better than building the hull by hand!
It also has steam engines with Stephenson valve gears.

Lifeboats:
raise them slightly above the deck, swing them out, bring them down to deck level and tie them to the ship if you're not lowering them immediately, and then lower them. The button to release them is on the boats themselves.

Starting:
Go down to the boiler room. You can get there by noclipping, or through the bottom deck of second and third class.
Turn on all of the keys, including the coolant pumps above the fire, and then light them.
Wait until steam pressure builds, then throttle up the engines.

Using the telegraphs:
Push the up or down buttons until you get to the desired throttle (1 is 0.25, 2 is 0.5, etc.) and wait for the yellow lever to move. If it goes to the right place, you can leave it, and if it doesn't, wait a few seconds and re-input the throttle.
The engines will start moving and the gray lever will move when the desired throttle is reached.

Scuttling:
There is a button on the right side of the bridge.

Not really, but it's so laggy and I've always had propulsion trouble.
